Vehicle needs a transfer case seal replaced. Also it has a stabilitrac warning which shuts the car down caused by excessive oil usage. GMC has warranty on some of the models depending on which plant made them. The dealership informed me of the transfer case issue during a routine oil change. The stabilitrac issue was on the highway

Car has been a nightmare since we purchased it. Constantly breaking down and having to result in expensive repairs. 3 catalytic converters, engine used to shut off due to overheating. Engine reduce sign, stabilitrak problems. This has been the worst car to ever be created in the history of vehicles. I'd rather take the [xxx] bus parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

We purchased a 2011 GMC Terrain May 29th 2018 used with 70000 miles from the hazleton Nissan from the hazleton auto mall here in pa. It now has 78000. Had two oil changes done already. There is definitely a excessive oil consumption problem with this vehicle as I just got a oil change hut the 50 percent oil life and having issues again. We have contacted hazleton Nissan found out they were closing after signing a " set for life" contract which had a powertrain warranty. Now I cannot use my warranty.anyway I was driving home tonight from work on interstate 81 when the car without warning just cut off and lost all power. He got it to the side of the highway and had to put it in neutral and restart it. After it started he brought it to a gas station where it had stalled again. Got it almost home and stalled again. God forbid my children were in this car when this car decided to cut off and he had no brakes no steering nothing. Nissan in hazleton was aware of this and I can't even use my warranty that they signed and I signed. I was promised something that I cannot use. GMC had a call from us around 73000 miles and I told them it was clicking and stalling. They wouldn't touch it bc Nissan is the one who sold it to me and the contract was with them, but they are no longer open so what do I do now" I cannot afford a huge fix hence why I got this car bc the warranty and I wouldn't have to pay for anything if it fell under the powertrain which it is. If I needed a new motor I would get one for free see what I am saying? someone could seriously get hurt or even die and this is our only vehicle can someone please help me" kept up with all oil changes also. This is very dangerous and should be fixed. I fear for my wife and children as they always are using this car.

Excessive oil consumption. I purchased a 2011 Terrain not knowing there was an issue with the excessive oil consumption. There is no warning light just started tapping in the engine. Noticed a knocking/rattling in engine while accelerating at slow speeds, on board computer stated remaining oil live was over 51%, however no oil registered on dipstick. Add oil and noise stopped. I only discovered because I started to hear a stranger noise when I was stopped with the car running.

2011 GMC terrian, current mileage 60,179 purchased used from northwest motorsports valley ave. Puyallup, car started pinking and I spoke to the salesman car was purchased from. I was told to take vehicle to GMC harnish river road.I was told by GMC harnish there was an oil consumption recall with my vehicle and my vehicle was placed on a oil consumption worksheet. Once documented piston and rings would be replaced free of charge. Vehicle was brought in to monitor the oil consumption which it did use oil and oil had to be added. At the end of the oil work sheet I brought my car in for repair under GMC harnish request. GMC harnish then refused to honor piston and ring repair. Northwest motorsports will not pay to have mechanical problem repaired.

I have a 2011 GMC Terrain that has around 73,000 miles on it, and the timing jumped, causing the car to die in the middle of the road, and would not restart at all. When I called GMC customer care, they were slightly helpful, until they found I purchased the car used.. I believe at the low mileage of my vehicle, that it should not have jumped time. I am really upset that GMC basically told me "too bad" when they found out I purchased used.

I purchased a 2011 Terrain not knowing there was an issue with the excessive oil consumption. I have called GMC for a fix and have been told that nhsa is the one who decides what VIN # get a letter to get the motor fixed. I disagree with this since fir the other VIN# are having the same issue why would you not include all models experiencing this issue" my question is how can I get this resolved to get GMC to send me the letter that others have received regarding this issue"

Fuel pump failure allowing gasoline into crankcase in large volumes. Rough idle, constant stalling, misfiring, fuel smell recirculating into cabin. Exact issue addressed by GM recall for my exact Terrain and equivalent Chevy equinox with 2.4 ecotec. Was told mine was not covered as it wasn't in correct VIN range though same make, model, year, motor, highly dangerous combustible issue matched. Dealer charged me $700+ for replacement/repair of fuel pump, both O2 sensors, fuel line, oil change to rid gas diluted oil. 2 days, 50 miles later, O2 code engine light comes on, erratic idling begins, power loss then stalls. Removed oil cap to smell and find gasoline mixed back into oil. Between 1/8 - 1/4 quart gasoline in the crankcase after 50 miles of driving! this after "repair" at "certified" Chevy dealership; a dangerous manufacturing flaw GM acknowledged was a problem but I was told, " not on yours though, wrong VIN". thank you for placing my loved ones in danger GM, refusing to fix your own recall, charging me over$700 to worsen the issue and place my family in greater danger.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that there was internal oil consumption failure concerning the engine, which affected other components in the vehicle. The independent facility who sold the vehicle to the contact was to have their mechanic provide an oil consumption test; however, they indicated that the manufacturer had a special coverage campaign to provide a remedy. The dealer (mandal Buick GMC in D'lberville, ms 39540, (228) 392-1515) was contacted and indicated that the vehicle was out of warranty by two months. The dealer was to provide an oil consumption test as well; however, the contact had not approved the dealer to provide the testing due to the vehicle being excluded from a warranty campaign. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but provided no specific testing recommendation. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

After a 2 hour highway drive I noticed the vehicle began running loud, a rattling noise coming from the engine as I was getting off the highway. After parking and shutting the vehicle down and letting it rest, I went to restart it. Again it was still loud but quickly shut itself off and would not start back up. Upon inspection, the timing chain went out causing, to quote the service manager, "catastrophic engine damage" that was well beyond able to be repaired.

I purchased my car used in September two weeks later I started experiencing stalling and erratic jerking while driving. I took the car to the dealer where I purchased the car (while it was under warranty) and was told not to worry it's just the O2 sensors. The car was loosing oil like crazy. December the car became worse and stalled and would not start. The dealership informed me I need a new engine, I am no longer covered under warranty and still paying for this car. No one will help me so now I'm stuck with a payment and an inoperable car.. oh did I mention I got a car fax once the car broke down to see the vehicle history the title is branded manufactor buy back/lemon.. I have seen on several forums and google that many people have complained and GM will not do a recall this issue is totally unsafe and can cause serious injury.

While drive down the interstate my car said service stability track then said engine power reduced, speed dropped dramatically then shut off completely. Engine would not turn back over. Had it towed to the shop only to find out the engine locked up due to no oil. Dealer said it was due to a very common problem with GM with excessive oil consumption! I had my oil changed and a full tune up 2 weeks ago! called to check recalls only to find out that in fact there was an recall for excessive oil consumption but my VIN wasn't involved. Dealer says in fact it should be! this could have caused a accident and caused my children and I to be seriously injured!

Vehicle caught on fire after pulling off the highway onto a busy city road. The cause was oil spilling onto the hot exhaust after catastrophic engine failure when the piston rods went through the side of the block. A bystander had a fire extinguisher and was able to put the fire out in the engine bay, after I was able to safely get out of the vehicle. The vehicle was a total loss according to our insurance company, but we have a claim on our record with insurance going up since GM would not cover the claim because the mileage was over 100,000 miles even though this oil consumption issue was present well before 100,000 miles. Sometime prior to this the dealer performed a piston rebuild for excessive oil consumption. After the repair the vehicle made a knocking noise on start up. The dealer passed this off and we were told not to worry about it. We pressed the issue a couple of times and the answer was the same, don't worry about it, it will go away. This is just unacceptable and dangerous to the owners of this engine.
