I bought a used 2011 GMC Terrain with a clean carfax and 35000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems. The car burn at least a quart of oil every 2 weeks. The constantly just cuts off when driving. GMC needs to do sometime about this before peolpe are killed.

I was driving on the highway and the car cut off as soon as I slowed down getting off the exit. I started the car back up and it said that the stabilitrack was off and that I was losing engine power. I got to safety, checked my fluids and I had no oil in the car. But I changed the oil recently and had 3,000 more miles till my next oil change. I towed the car to my mechanic and described what happened. He told me that their was an internal engine failure that caused the timing belt to break. I called my insurance and they had a field adjuster look at the vehicle and he nor the mechanic could figure out why or how this happened on such a well maintained vehicle. They both stated that there is no way that I should have had 2 major system failures (I just replaced the transmission) with the current vehicle mileage. I called GMC and they will not so anything to help me. Their only solution is for me to tow it to a GMC dealership and they will look at it. I could've died in this car, I still owe on this car and they won't help me.

While driving on the highway at 45 mph, the vehicle remained running but abruptly stopped. I could have been hit from behind with serious consequences. It left me stranded on a 2 lane road unable to move out of the lane. This is a serious problem with this vehicle. GM needs to address this problem.

I was driving on a city street and the stabilitrac words came up on my dash. Then it said powering down. Then my vehicle started running rough and I pulled over and shut it off. I waited a minute and shut off traction control button. Then started again and a few minutes later the words came on again and it started running rough. I shut it off again and waited and got it home slowly about 3 miles.

While I was driving 35-45 miles per hour the truck turned off on its own so I parked truck on the side of the road. I waited a few minutes and tried to turn vehicle on again, it turned on again and I continued driving 20-30 per hour. Then after being stopped at a red light when it turned green I stepped on the gas and there was a loud sound plus we felt like it had jumped.

"takata recall" my vehicle is burning 2-3 quarts of oil between scheduled oil changes. I have returned it to the dealership 3 different times, only to be told nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I have researched this thoroughly, and there are hundreds of similar complaints regarding extreme oil consumption. The vehicle is only driven in the city. I very rarely take it on an interstate or highway. There are no signs of leakage on my driveway, parking spot at work, or on the underneath side of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. While the vehicle was at a stop sign, it lost power. The vehicle was able to restart after one attempt. The vehicle was taken to the allen samuels Chevrolet Buick GMC dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft position actuator solenoid intake bank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,783. The VIN was not available.

As I read through all the complaints I do not understand why there are not more recalls on this vehicle. I love the car itself but after only having the car for 15 months the motor completely failed with no warning. Our Terrain has the 3.0 engine but there is an extension of warranty on the 2.4 engine. However the complaints on the 2.4 motor mirrors what happened to us. We had fuel injectors replaced a few months ago and oil changed at that time. The night the engine died it had made some strange noises but no hesitation and no warning lights. Not even a check engine light. My husband checked the oil and it was low. There is no way it could have been low. He added some because that is what we are conditioned to do but it never would register on the dipstick. We drove 1/2 mile and the without warning; no noises or warning lights the car died at a busy intersection. Thankfully my husband was able to push me in the car to safety but the car never restarted. We had it towed to the dealer we purchased it from and they said the motor seized up but are unable to tell us why unless we pay for them to take the motor apart. They are unable to find any error codes. They are telling us we need a new motor costing $7400 to purchase and put in. The car is out of warranty. We only bought the vehicle 15 months ago so we haven't had it long; we bought it used. Makes no sense but does sound like the stories on the 2.4 motors. When is someone going to take notice that there is a problem with these GMC motors whether it is the 2.4 or the 3.0 engines. Does it take someone to get killed before GMC admits there is a problem"????"

This car stalls for no reason while driving. I have fixed it multiple times but no fix works. It stalled on me while exiting the freeway yesterday, very scary situation. I am worried I will be in a wreck. I press the gas and the car will not accelerate. Very dangerous in certain situations. Especially when it stalls while making a turn in a intersection. Almost got T-boned the other day when it stalled while a car was oncoming. Since GM is not willing to acknowledge the problem and have not fix in place I will be getting rid of the car at my loss.

We bought it used in 2013 and shortly after it started have serious issues. It started with the traction control light coming on and it power down. Then it would stay running spitting and sputtering after we turned the key off. So then we received a letter stating there is a recall and take it to the dealership to have it fixed. So they fixed it or at least they said it was, so we continued to drive it and the engine light came on and stayed on so I took it back and they said it was the throttle body and catalytic convert. Then we changed those parts and it still has the engine light on and spitting and sputtering after we turn the key off.

I bought the car used three weeks ago. The check engine light came on the other day and I had the code read. It said my intake camshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The light turned off a day later, but I called the dealership anyways and they said sometimes it will just red codes wrong and not too worry about it right now. A few days after that I was at a stop light and went to accelerate and my care shut off. This then happened the next day after I was pulling out of a parking spot and later the same day when I went to park my car on the street. It seems to happen when the car is in low idle.I have read numerous complaints by other GMC Terrain owners who have the same issue. I don't need to be stuck in traffic stalled with the possibility of being hit.

Car rattles on start up and seems to be noisier than it should be. Drivers seat heater utilizes high heat no matter what settings it is on. If heater is left on I get a burning smell. Poor fuel economy, at best I get 22 mph. Engine runs rough in eco mode especially at an idle. I have had an occasional issue with hard downshifts when I decelerate then accelerate. I do mostly city driving.
