Terrain 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission

Replaced the VVT solenoids which was a temporary fix but eventually the car continued to stall. Replaced the timing chain and had the oil plan dropped and cleaned. Fixed the problem.

Terrain SLE 2.4L Eco

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,275 miles

My truck stalled on me. It sounded like it could barely make it. I had it towed to auto shop. My husband said that it probably needed a sensor to be replaced. I didn't tell them that at the shop though. So the technician did the diagnostic on it (Thursday Feb.27, 2020) & that's what showed up. So fine go ahead & replace it.

So on Friday Feb. 28, 2020, they asked me if I needed my truck back that day, I said I can pick it up on that following Monday. He said good because I want to check your truck over to make sure that there aren't any other issues. So I said okay. On Monday he called me and said that the timing chain needed to be replaced & that it was going to cost $1500. So I'm like, why it didn't show up when ya'll did the diagnostic. He couldn't say anything. Luckily I had an Extended Warranty on it that I purchased myself.

So on Wednesday March 4, 2020 he called me with his total. They were billing my warranty for $1800 ($300 difference than what he originally said) and that I was going to be responsible for $543. So I called the warranty provider & they gave a whole different price of what they were paying & what I had to pay. (Always do your homework, never take the dealership word). Needless to say I had to pay $336 out of pocket. I don't understand why the timing chain went bad in the first place.

Terrain LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 147,000 miles

I have had cars that have lasted years with anywhere between 280,000 up to 500,000 miles easily with proper tune up's and oil changes. I have never ever had a timing chain go out with at most 150,000 miles on it, heck that's just getting broke in.

Looking to buy a new car when this one is done getting fixed going to sell it and get one worthwhile.
