Terrain SLE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 146,000 miles

I bought the car, and it is consuming oil. I changed the lifters, timing chain, throttle body, TPS, camshaft, crankshaft sensors. But the engine light is on, it stalls and is in general a bad car.

Terrain SLE2 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,710 miles

I had decreased power and more fuel consumption. I was burning as much as my brother's V8 f150.

I brought it in to my mechanic and told him to make this baby run like new. He noticed the exhaust manifold had a crack in it. After he looked into it further he realized the cat converter filter had blown through and the o2 sensor was burnt to a crisp. He basically took the air hose and blew out all the remnants of the filter stuck in the pipe. Cat converter delete and new exhaust manifold, tranny flush and oil flush new o2 sensor new spark plugs and now this baby runs like new(125,000kms). Was getting 10L/100km now I'm getting 7-8 L/100km obviously highway driving

City used to be 14-18L/100km now it's 9-11L/100km. Car used to stall because of a faulty o2 sensor as well.

I just got this terrain 6/1/2016 , my husband insisted on a American made car he said GMC or Chevy after 2 weeks I had multiple decrease`s in speed and on 2 or 3 other times I had a huge increase in speed that shucked me up .That happened at least 3 to 4 times within the 2 weeks before my husband drove the terrain , After he drove it a second time it happen to him without me telling him my experience I wanted to make sure I was rite . so after the 5th week of having the terrain I took it back to Banner Chevrolet in new Orleans and after 5 days of having the terrain they cannot find a thing wrong ,so I'm leaving it there so a supervisor of that department take it home for a few days and see if it happen to him ,so as of 7/12/2016 my odometer reading is 039275 when I left my terrain at the dealer yesterday.

OK, so this is it. I have a call to GMC dealer .., this is happening about every 2 weeks, I don't understand. I have always had Toyota Camry's & Avalon's . I have never had issues with my vehicles. I get the oil changed & tires taken care of. That's all I ever did for my Toyota's.

I have barely had this Terrain for a year ....My husband is all about made in the USA & we were both glad we switched .... Fingers crossed, GMC stands for customer service.

So the light came on suddenly as I was driving .......Engine Power Reduced ! Engine light & traction light both come on as well . Difficult to go over say 50 miles per hour. I was just so happen to be on my way to get gas. I get gas & restart my car & all is cleared except engine light is on but able to drive normal speed limits with no problems.

engine power reduced

OK, so I thought maybe I had used some bad gasoline or something. This time I was on my way to get my oil changed. This is a family member that owns the tire company. So he hooks up the machine & I explain what's been happening & he says it is saying a throttle sensor ( now guys I am female & I may be incorrect, but I think that is what he told me....) this is all foreign language to me. So he changed my oil & reset it for me & said you should be good. ( he did not replace or fix anything, I think he reset it )

Update from Mar 10, 2015: Note : New entry : I also want to add that we have already had to change the battery in the terrain as well. So the vehicle is 2013, we purchased in Dec 2013 & within 9 months a new battery.

Another complaint that started right before the "engine power reduced" I was loading up the vehicle to go out of town for a few days & the hatch was up for a few hours .... I noticed as I was finishing up that the hatch started falling on my head . So now you have about 30 seconds to load things or you will need to use your arm to hold up & help support the back hatch door. Otherwise you will hit your head. It does not close completely on its own but it comes down nearly half way, pretty annoying. Not sure if any or all things are related.

So about 10 days later it does the same thing .... So I was en route to a meeting for work, stop & get gas.Same thing. It goes away & just the engine light is on. Speed restored ! Whew! My husband is concerned & I am getting worried. I am thinking I love this vehicle & I don't have time to worry about this. Praying its a fluke.

Google has got me concerned ..... I see this has been a issue with some GMC vehicles. Very busy schedule this week ..., no time for car issues !!
