Terrain ES V6

We called when we noticed it and were told had to get it in for repaint before 60,000 km. Hit 60,000 km later that month and noticed it rusting again. Called dealership and was told it's no longer covered! Shouldn't the repaint be covered for a period of time! I don't think they did anything but scrub off the rust!

Terrain SLT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

This vehicle was 49000 and is 2 years old there is rust coming out on the tailgate door near the license plate . I have had all the rust corrosion, permanent shine etc put on the car when I purchased it to prevent the likes of this. Then I find out today talking to another Terrain owner she had. 2014 as well with the same problem in the same area. Could this be a recall GMC ? Or should GMC figure out what needs to be done and fix the problem in the factory. Pain in the ass having to go to the GMC body shop, has a car rented for me which is usually this matchbox car while mine is in the shop for 3-4 days. Our dealership is about 1 hour away one way.

2 roof corrosion circles above the center dome light

Overall, our AWD Terrain has been a great car. Our white car is less than 2 years old and was purchased new. While washing it, I noticed two (2) rust circles on the roof, above where the center dome lights are located. These are perfect circles which leads me to believe it is some type of manufacturing defect or design flaw. (I am an aircraft Engineer experienced with sheet metal.)

I have contacted GMC and was advised to take my car to a dealer as it is under warranty. I'd like other owners to check their Terrain for this type of damage.

Update from Jun 17, 2016: I took my Terrain to the local GMC dealer and the Service Manager was surprised. Although I did not purchase the car there, they buffed out the rust circles by hand and washed the car at no charge. Later that week I took the car to my original GMC dealer for a scheduled oil change. When I started explaining the rust circles, the service adviser said every Terrain on their lot had the same problem.

Still no explanation on the cause. The service adviser suspects there may be something magnetic attracting metal dust. ( I live by overhead train tracks and the second dealer is next to a freeway.)
