About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Engine exhibited symptoms of starting hard when hot or stalling with no warning. The ses light would come on and the codes 17, 18, 35 & 36 were stored. Dealer was contacted regarding this and truck was at dealer for 3 appointments but did not resolve problem. These codes almost always indicate a failing fuel injection pump and calls to customer relations line asking why nothing was being done to change the fuel injection pump didn't get anywhere. A case number was assigned. All visits to the dealer were during the warranty period. A trip following the last visit to the dealership nearly resulted in a rear end collision on and interstate as the truck stalled in heavy traffic. I purchased a new GM fuel injection pump and installed it myself and resolved the problem completely. GM has since reinstated the warranty for this problem on several trucks including mine. I am submitting a request for a refund for my losses.
