Started in November 2017: Came home for the evening, parked in my driveway, went to leave for work next day and there was a SUBSTANTIAL transmission fluid leak in the driveway. Did not drive it until January, while I used that time to scour online, mechanic repair books, lots of conversations with auto parts place, mechanics, etc, and to have to save up $ to even starting attempting to fix it.
First attempt was, I put in Bar's Leak Stop. It stopped leaking after about 2+ weeks, and after 3 days of no leaks, I bought and put in 4 qts of Dexron VI fluid. Go to take it to work: it's slipping changing gears. I figured it might need more fluid. Parked at work (level ground): No leaks. Get it home, park in driveway. Next morning go to get more Dexron VI: leak in driveway...Took to a mechanic. I bought a new rear transmission seal & mechanic replaced it. Go to leave from mechanic, and it will not switch gears without the RPMs going way up and not able to increase speed without taking foot on and off gas pedal. Take immediately back to mechanic, he tells me PROBABLY my whole transmission needs to be replaced....
*Then I buy and replace the transmission filter, pan gasket, solenoids, & 5 new qts of Dexron VI. Take her for a spin: Starts out pretty smooth until I drive on a slight incline, starts slipping gears again. Park it in the street for the night (level): no leaks. Move it to the driveway (slight incline): leaks. The leak is hitting the driveway about in the middle (too far up for real seal failure, I think?) Can anyone please tell me what could possibly be causing this? Does it just need more fluid? Why only on an incline? I'm no mechanic...
