2001 GMC Yukon with brake problems. Consumer states that his dad was driving and stated that the brakes weren't working properly which caused him to rear end the vehicle in front of him. No one was injured in this incident. The consumer stated the accident happened due to a recall notification that was not received. The recall was about a brake sensor that could corrode over a period of time.

Consumer was informed that his vehicle was not covered under the recall. The consumer was informed the recall only covered northern states and the state where he lived was not considered northern.

ABS module failure at around 39,000 miles. Removed ABS fuse to get motor to stop running continuously, as it was extremely hot. Called dealership about repairing the motor, but they do not repair the modules, only replace entire module for $1000 (with the exact same module). Sent module to a company that replaced the faulty parts for $100, with parts that well exceed shoddy oem standards, with a lifetime warranty on the parts as well.

Was driving truck and noticed loud motor noise in addition to engine running. Turned truck off in garage and a motor noise was still running with engine turned off. ABS light on dash illuminated. Unloaded child, self and groceries from truck. 30 minutes later, (trying to figure out next step to correct problem since it was a Sunday), motor noise is still running and engine is off. Drove truck to Firestone garage. Turned engine off, motor noise still running. Garage hooked truck up to diagnostic system and said that there was a failure in ABS system. They disconnected ABS system and motor noise stopped. Said that the part was dangerously hot and that this could have been very bad because the ABS system sits right under/over the gas tank. Can you imagine what could have happened to my family and house if it caused a fire in my garage" what if I couldn't have found a garage that was open on Sunday afternoon" there aren't many, believe me. I have received a quote to have part replaced, but have not fixed yet. It is very inconvenient for me to leave my truck at a dealership for the length of time this is going to take to be diagnosed again (and of course the dealer wants me to pay the $99 diagnostic fee again after I have already paid this once to Firestone). I do not feel that the ABS system should fail on a truck that is only 5 years old.

ABS system had to be disabled because of ABS pump running when vehicle was shut off. Because pump was running it caused the battery to die several times until my mechanic disconnected the pump. I was told this part would cost $1200 to replace.

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon slt, and I have had an ABS issue. I heard a constant running sound, even when the vehicle is not running. Narrowed it down to the ABS, and had to pull the fuse to stop it. Now my brake & ABS lights are constantly illuminated. The dealers will not fix it, just replace them. Which is around a grand to do. Since there is no recall outside the "salt belt" states they won't help us. I've found someone in the area with the same problem. I research it online, and see it appears to be an common safety problem. There is a recall out, but does not apply here in fort walton beach, Florida. In which were are on the coast an subject to salt waters of the gulf coast. I've noticed it on NHTSA campaign id # 05V379000. It affects "salt belt" states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, rhoda island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia only.... please extend recall area for other locations that have the same problem. Maybe coastal areas, etc.

Update 1/11/2006 - the ABS activated at low speeds resulting in extended stopping distance.

According to GM, my vehicle is not included in recall #05068 front wheel speed sensor corrosion. However, my vehicle most certainly did have this defect, which came close to causing me 2 rear-end collisions. I had the repairs made at a GM dealer and am seeking reimbursement, but have been told I can't be because my VIN is not on the recall. Please help me notify GM that they need to include my vehicle and send me the recall notice.

The contact was slowing down to come to a stop and the ABS light and parking light came on. He increased his stopping distance in order to get the vehicle to come to a stop. Took the vehicle to the dealer; they hooked it up to a diagnostic machine. The dealer stated it needed a new electronic box. There was no free remedy to fix the box. The seat belt on the passenger's side in the second row of the vehicle locked in the buckle, other times it will come loose while in the seat belt. Also when turning the vehicle to the right or left one could hear a clicking sound. The dealer was not willing to fix it free of charge.

ABS light/brake light NHTSA campaign number: 05V379000 I called GMC as my vehicle is exhibiting symptoms of ABS sensor failure. They said it will be Jan 2006 before recall begins, may be 11/2006 before letters go. They would not authorize dealer to look at vehicle or make repairs. My vehicle make/model/year show up in campaign announcement but they said that doesn't mean GMC has begun a recall.

GM has recalled several of its SUVS and pickups due to a bad anti-lock brake design. This has occurred in Canada and 14 us states of which Minnesota is not included. This past fall I was having the described problems of the anti-lock brakes coming on whenever I was braking at slow speeds. This usually occurred at stop signs. I didn't feel safe with the brakes and the impending winter and decided to take it in to get fixed. They replaced a sensor saying it was bad and I paid ~$230 for the fix. Prior to getting it fixed I had onstar run diagnostics to see if there was a problem. After getting it fixed and hearing of the recall in Canada I spoke with GM who said that they wouldn't do anything for me. Now with these 14 other states I am furious. It seems like they should be covering the costs of my repairs since I had the exact same problems. To pick and choose the states while compromising safety is absurd. Any information or recourse you could share would be appreciated.

There was recall for the brakes, but the consumers state was not included. The ABS system light illuminated. The consumer had someone look at it and was told it was not working properly. It still stops and doesn't make any type of funny noise. The ABS light and emergency light stays on all the time. This started around August 15, 2005. The consumer has not taken the vehicle to the dealer.

While driving on the interstate the owner saw the ABS light come on and didn't know what it was. This occurred in July 2005. The owner returned home from a trip. The owner heard a noise and thought it was a refrigerator in the garage. The noise continued all night. Then the owner took the vehicle to mechanic, and upon inspection, he noted ABS motor kept running and had to be replaced. The mechanic unhooked the ABS motor. The noise quit, but the ABS light was still on. The owner knew about the ABS unit module recall, and wondered if this it related to the motor having to be replaced. She did not have problems with the ABS activating. This recall 05V379000. This vehicle was not included in the recall, according to her dealership.

While traveling over railroad tracks I had to brake suddenly to not hit a car that quickly stopped in font of me. I was going about 25-30 mph. As I braked over the tracks the ABS kicked in caused the vehicle to swerve to the right. I hit the guard rail with the right front quarter causing $3500 in damage. Nothing has been done to fix this problem.
