Yukon XL SLT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

i dont think i can say it as well as pistonslap.com can, but here goes. apparently a huge issue not being dealt with by gm. knocking sound on cold start, gm mechamnic says normal... i say a piston moving around in the cylinder is far from normal!!! also causes oil usage issues because oil escapes to the detonation chamber around piston!

Yukon XL 5.3

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

The 5.3 in my yukon XL knocks when cold. A trip to the dealer proved to be frustrating to say the least. They say the engine has liners and the engine knocks because of these liners and because it goes away when it warms up, i will have to live with it. Taking a moment to try to absorb what was just said to me, i asked why the sales people didn't mention that two years into owning this 60 thousand dollar truck, it would start knocking and gm would not do anything about it "because they all do it, it won''t hurt a thing"........ this is the response gm is giving to their customers??? ...... this truck has chronic problems, it may look good, but it is put together so cheaply, it's embarrasing......... congratulations, general motors, i have spent my last dollar at your company!
