I have 2003 GMC Yukon with only 43K that I bought brand new in '03. The problem is its premature wear of the emergency brake. I was told by a GM mechanic that my parking brake is about to fail due to worn shoes. How is that so" I haven't even had the chance to replace my brake pads just yet. How is that possible that my parking brake shoes wear out way before my brake pads do, that I used every time I drive"

Recently discovered, after being warned by brake shop employee, that the emergency brake was inoperative. He said this was a common failure of these vehicles, (GM's - Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, etc. Series). Returned vehicle to GM dealer who repaired it and acknowledged it was a common problem.
