problem #1

Yukon Denali V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 144,000 miles

An expensive vehicle like a Yukon Denali should not have complete transmission failure at 144k miles. What is worst, is that GM knows there is a problem and in fact has a technical service bulletin about the problem. The problem stems from a cheap part--a reaction sun shell--that is made out of plastic like material that dissolves over time. GM has used this cheap product for years to save costs. When that part goes it causes metal fragments in your transmission--resulting in the need for a new transmission. Despite knowing of this problem, GM only offered a 36k mile warranty on the vehicle and will not cover this know defect beyond that. This all means I have to shell out over $3500 for a new transmission. I am very disappointed in GM, and will never buy another GM product again--unless there is some evidence that it completely reverses course and puts quality and customer satisfaction on a higher priority. In meantime, I am considering a class action, as there appears to be numerous others who have suffered the same fate.
