I bought this 2007 Yukon Denali because the engine on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.8 dropped a valve at 130k. With proper maintenance. Oils were all changed to the good synthetic recommended by Dodge. Proper flushing of the coolant. This all happened in road construction. With kids in the car 4 years and under. I had to take them to the dentist.
I make it to the Chevy dealer. Not wanting to trade it in, but I need a reliable car for my children. All they had that I could barely afford is a 2007 Yukon Denali. I bought it in August of 2014 with 85000 miles on it, roughly. I have the exact numbers but this is just from my head. It has just over 90000. Of coarse I tried to get the extra warranty but couldn't get it financed. So it came with the GM dealer's 3 month 3000 mile warranty. This isn't a back yard dealer, it was a GM dealer.
First I noticed the sticker in the top of the window saying the oil was just changed. So I popped the hood. The oil fill cap was just sitting in the whole. They didn't even screw it in. To get to the main point, my wife was driving it into town the other day. It just shut off in the middle of the road with my child in the car. Luckily it wasn't on the train tracks. My wife said it dinged and said stable link and dies. She then tried to restart it and turn the key and it doesn't even make the starter turn over. She tried like 4 or 5 time. So she called me and it ended up starting after about 15 minutes.
I went down, drove it home with the service engine light on. I was trying to get it to come on the whole time driving home. Nothing. So went out this morning to try to read the code with my scanner. My scanner wouldn't even turn on. So my dad brought his over and his didn't even work. We checked the charging system cause now the battery light is on and it says in the gauges check charging system. The battery was holding a charge, the alternator would kick on when the lights were put on. So the alternator is working. The problem is the alternator is suppose the level off the power and it isn't, it just keeps Climbing. So we turn on the lights again and the power is all over the place. The Yukon was just sitting there running and died.
I tried to start it and the starter didn't do anything about 8 tries, and then I disconnected the battery. Left it off for about 5 min. Then hooked it back up. It started no problem. Keep in mind this whole time the factory, not an add on remote, start hasn't worked this whole time. I am just hopping it catches fire when I'm driving it with no kids in it. I bought this cause GM has always been good to my family. I need to just go back to the 70's cars and truck, like I had before these.
