problem #3

May 062015

Yukon SLT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

I was pulling my trailer in tow/haul mode and the transmission popped, and vehicle would not accelerate. After talking with the GM service tech and mechanic, it appears that the transmission is slipping and will need to be replaced. It has to be put on a rack and analyzed to know more about the problem.

Yukon 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,738 miles

i started noticing problems approximately the weekend of june 18th or 19th 2011. the vehicle was bucking while attempting to accelerate, as if the gears were slipping. the problem would only occur after the vehicle had come to a full stop and when attempting to accelerate. once the vehicle reached cruising speed the problem was no longer evident.

i took the vehicle to king o'rourke cadillac auto group in smithtown, ny and was advised by service rep. that if the problem was covered under the 100,000 mile powertran warranty the the vehicle would be fixed free of charge.

after approximately 2 days without my vehicle i received a call from the service rep. advising me that the technician inspected the transmission pan and found excessive fine metal debrie with bronze brass coloration, they also found damage to input housing forward sprag coast and forward clutch steels and torque converter failure
