Yukon Denali 6.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

2015 Yukon Denali with 27,000. I pull out of the garage with dry pavement on a nice day in WI and the truck doesn't turn easily. Being mechanically inclined it feels like it is in 4wd. I look at the 2wd, auto and 4wd knob and it is set in 2wd as I normally have it however the auto light is lit up and the truck is in 4wd. The knob of course turns easily to all other settings however it will not come out of 4wd. The "service 4wd" now comes on every time I start the vehicle.

I phoned the dealer on Monday morning and they stated they have seen this on numerous occassions. Stated it will just be a computer updated. I mentioned my issue to my brother who had the same year vehicle and his did the EXACT same thing. They updated it and it reoccured 3 weeks later. He got rid of the vehicle immediately.

I will update after my appointment this Friday.

Yukon XL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

On a nice warm evening, no bad weather, I placed the car in reverse to leave my friends house and it was locked in 4WD. I could not get it out. Tried everything.

The next business day I called the dealer and he said to put it into neutral and switch to 2WD.(This is a car that had the feature to set the transmission to AUTO and the OBC will determine driving mode). Nothing. Took it to the dealer, where I was informed that this was a recall and they forgot to reset the OBC. Note: When we were in negotiations we asked if this car had any recalls whatsoever...answer NO. So the OBC was reset and off I go. Only to have the same problem happen five days later, only this time, I could not make a safe right hand turn. It was worse. Had the car towed to the dealer.

The next day the service manager called and told me that it was a recall and that Detroit was frantically working on a fix and that it would be weeks. When this happened I was on a two lane highway with a semi-truck behind me...not able to make a turn...very scary. Now doesn't this seem odd that during the first trip, the service manager told me it was fixed, and now its a recall. But that's not all....while in park at a store, it slipped from park into neutral and started rolling, almost hitting my husband. Another recall I found out.
