It is unacceptable bordering on criminal that GMC has not recalled this transmission. In speaking with the dealership and two local transmission repair shops, they see this issue at least once a month.

Only fix is a new transmission. No good will from GMC EVEN though the vehicle saw 80% highway mileage, and it's never towed anything in its life and had well over a year time-wise on the factory drive train warranty. All maintenance items were performed at the dealer. No reason for this to happen at this mileage. Due to being 60K miles outside warranty GMC decided not to offer any good will for the replacement, not even $1500... There will be no more GMC vehicles purchased by me and I will be certain that I share my experience on any outlet I can.

Be warned if you experience this shudder during driving. There are no codes thrown by the engine, nor the electronics on the transmission, thanks GMC I guess transmission failure codes are not needed as they only say you expect it to fail... Good work! So without codes, the dealer will send you on a wild goose chase of other items. Be precise and document your discussions and get it replaced before you are over your mileage.

If you feel any shudder, monitor your RPMs and if they drift when you feel the shudder and no codes appear on a scan, you have to replace the transmission. Don't let them talk you into a flush or double flush to "fix" the issue. That will only mask it for enough miles to get you out of your warranty.

The transmission has not been shifting well for almost the entire time I have owned the car although it was not specifically diagnosed until after the warranty expired 6 months ago. It has 72,000 miles on it. Furthermore, I am told that there are very few GMC transmissions available and that it could be months before GMC can cover the demand for new transmissions.

How can a manufacturer not be able to fix a 3.5 year old car??? Yes, I understand Covid issues, but something tells me that there are many cars that need new transmissions - and a Covid shortage may not be the only reason.

Long story short, my 2016 GMC Yukon Denali's transmission shudders and shakes when shifting from a lower gear to a higher gear. The transmission fluid was changed to attempt to fix "the known issue" without success. Took the vehicle back only to be told that GM says this is "just how it is"...so basically, I paid an ass load of money for my dream car only to have it not function like any reasonable person would expect! Not sure how a company can get away with selling vehicles to the public with known issues and not have a fix...this is not over for me!!!!
