  • 16,000 miles
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while a friend was driving at highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of automotive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. No further information was available. Additionally, the vehicle had previously experienced a loss of braking while driving with the cruise control activated. The contact stated that while driving at a slower speed the vehicle lurched forward, striking a gate, and causing damage to the front pumper of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The contact's wife owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at 80 MPH, several warning lights flashed on the instrument panel as the engine shut off. The vehicle's speed abruptly decelerated as the contact was nearly hit by an 18-wheeler traveling close behind the vehicle. The contact managed to coast the vehicle as best as possible off to the shoulder of the highway. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and a diagnostic was performed which showed that the engine had failed. The contact stated that both he and his son suffered emotional trauma as a result of the sudden failure; however, neither has yet to seek medical treatment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was offered a new engine despite the contact's request for a vehicle buyback. The contact stated that he did not feel safe driving the vehicle and feared for both his and his family's life as a result of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle one week after purchasing has had a tapping noise coming from engine and a rattling noise as well that you hear from the inside of vehicle. I have taken vehicle to two separate GM dealers. The first being where vehicle was purchased and they did not log in visit and basically said nothing could be done until engine breaks. The second dealer was only able to duplicate the rattling noise but had no loaner for me and advise would contact GM for next steps since a complaint has been filed. As of today nothing has been done. The second dealership also confirmed orange peel on paint and nothing either.

On February 14, 2025, my brakes went completely out in the school carline while picking up my youngest daughter. After the incident happened, I saw a light that read "Service ESC." This private elementary school is next-door to a private high school. There were students, teachers, and parents walking in this area at this time. I had to maneuver through this carline and away from faculty, students, and parents with no breaks. No individual was injured or killed but it could have been a very serious accident. I called GMC asking for help but was told through a chat line to bring the vehicle in for service. I was finally able to get my Yukon to the service department where after a few days it was determined my brakes failed and they were replaced. One day after I received the vehicle back from service, there was a horrible noise while driving but no lights showed on the dashboard, so it was returned to the same service department. They found metal shavings in my oil and I was told the lifters had collapsed and the engine failed. At this time, I have not heard from GMC and my vehicle is still in the service department.

The engine of my 2024 GMC Yukon Denali failed unexpectedly at 45 MPH, shutting off without warning and shifting into neutral. My wife, three passengers, and two dogs were in the vehicle, which coasted to a stop. After several attempts, it restarted, and the check engine light illuminated. Alpine Buick GMC confirmed catastrophic engine failure, requiring replacement of the engine, radiator, hoses, and other parts. The vehicle remains at the dealership, and the failed components are available for inspection. This sudden shutdown posed serious safety concerns. My wife lost control over acceleration and power steering, increasing the risk of an accident. Had this occurred on a highway or in traffic, the consequences could have been severe. This raises concerns about the engine-??s reliability and potential risks to other drivers. Alpine Buick GMC confirmed the engine failure and the need for full replacement. I am the sixth customer awaiting this repair, indicating a broader issue. The estimated wait time for an engine is two weeks to three months, creating a significant disruption. Inspection by Manufacturer, Police, or Insurance The vehicle has been inspected by dealership technicians but not by GMC representatives, police, or insurance adjusters. I am open to further inspections to determine the cause and assess whether a recall or corrective action is necessary. No warning lights or symptoms appeared before the engine shut down. The check engine light illuminated only after restarting on the third attempt. The absence of prior alerts suggests a flaw in the vehicle-??s diagnostic system. Expedited Engine Replacement -?" Given the safety risks, I request priority replacement. Investigation into Failure Cause -?" GMC should assess whether this is a manufacturing defect. Review of Similar Cases -?" If widespread, a recall or service bulletin may be necessary. Better Communication -?" Regular updates on repairs and GMC-??s actions are needed. I expect prompt action to resolve

We were driving from another part of town back to our home on a very busy road, when our 2024 Yukon Denali Ultimate stopped working. My wife, who was driving, was able to turn onto a side road and stop the vehicle on the side of the road. The SUV would not start at that point. It was towed via a flatbed trailer to Ray Miller GMC, where it was determined that the engine had seized. I bought it at Howard Bentley GMC. They had it brought to them. GM only is offering an extended warranty even though the engine is being replaced, and the vehicle has inherently lost value. Luckily, Howard Bentley is giving me my money back towards a new 2025 Yukon AT4 Uktimate.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" The engine suffered a catastrophic failure, including a bottom-end bearing failure, causing the camshaft to seize, the flywheel to shear off, and metal to spread throughout the engine, cooling system, and radiator. This also tripped the main fuse, resulting in an electrical short. The failed engine is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was driving on a 55 mph highway when the engine completely shut off without warning. Losing all power while traveling at highway speeds was extremely dangerous, and I was barely able to glide the vehicle to the side of the road before it lost momentum. It is terrifying to think of what could have happened had I not been able to get out of the travel lane in time, especially with other vehicles moving at high speeds around me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the dealership diagnosed the issue and confirmed the engine failure. They have determined that a full engine replacement is necessary. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized GMC dealership service center. I have not yet had it inspected by any other parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" No warning lights or messages appeared before the engine shut off. The failure was completely sudden and unexpected, with no prior symptoms or indications of an issue.

aside from constant electrical issues with the serial gateway module that gm refuses to replace many safety features fail regularly most importantly this replacement yukon for the 2023 with engine issues also has engine issues and the same 6.2L engine. When leaving my home and or driving on any decent up or downhill road and coasting the vehicle will misfire and trigger the MIL to flash. I-??ve taken it into the dealer many times for this and in the end they say it-??s a software problem with AFM disabling 5 cylinders. They claim that the geometry of the vehicle along with having 5 cylinders disabled causes the engine to vibrate enough to make it think it-??s misfiring. this came from their factory field service tech. they refuse to fix it. they refuse to put this on paper. they told me if I wanted it fixed, I could buy a 2025 instead. this is insanity.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked and the vehicle failed to accelerate above 45 MPH. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled off the roadway. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving uphill. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a possible engine failure; however, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be disassembled to confirm the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

2024 Yukon AT4 14,214 miles. I heard a metal dropping sound that morning but otherwise it acted fine. I thought something fell in the vehicle but nothing was there. No lights came on. Then later that day it just died at a light in town. Suddenly received low oil pressure warning and vehicle shutting off. Happened out of no where. Was able to start it and get off out of middle of road. It continued to die over and over and then finally wouldn-??t start again. Towed to dealership. Dealership able to start it once there but stated check engine light was on. We called for an update after a week of waiting and were told that it needs a new engine.

Was driving on the interstate when the engine stopped running. My screens went off and came on saying to press the start button to turn on as my car is still moving. Once pulled over couldn-??t get the car to turn off or shift out of park. Engine never started since then. Mechanics looking at the Yukon have verified that my engine did seize up. My car is less than a year old.

Was driving on highway when the engine started to labor. Without notice the car flipped into neutral. Obviously this was very dangerous going from acceleration to no engine power. I barely made it to the side of the highway by crossing two lanes to get there. When on the side of the road the car went into park and was unable to move to any other modes. Not even neutral. Again very lucky to have gotten off on the shoulder. Once the car came to a stop we were stuck for good. Had to get towed 60 miles or the nearest dealership with my wife and two young children. Took the car to a GMC dealership who said; -??yeah this has been happening with the V8s-??. It has now been 30 days and still no updates from GM outside of them waiting on a new engine. Also GM only gives you $44/day for a rental car which doesn-??t even come close to covering a like kind vehicle. We had a 2024 Yukon Denali. I am now without a car and the only communication I am getting from GM and the GMC dealership is to wait until they receive and replace the engine, which they say should hopefully fix the problem. I am not taking the risk that this could happen again with my family in the car. Looking to get some form of a buyout and move into a different car.

On November 13, 2024 I was operating my vehicle at approximately 55 miles per hour when it suddenly experienced complete engine failure. The incident occured at 10 o'clock at night, and the loss of power resulted in the immediate shutdown of all vehicle systems, including headlights. Due to the unexpected nature of the failure, I was unable to bring the vehicle to an immediate stop. Fortunately, my three children and I escaped the incident without injury. The vehicle eventually came to a stop, and I was able to assess the situation and contact OnStar. The vehicle was towed to dealership.

Driving on highway and engine cut off with no warning. No dash lights to show a warning. 3321 miles on engine. The vehicle was unable to be put in neutral for the police to push it out of the highway. Three Moncks Corner police cars surrounded the vehicle to maintain safety. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. Needed a new engine and cooling system. The engine and cooling system were both replaced.
