problem #2

Jul 092011

Accord

  • Automatic transmission
  • 223,253 miles

This seemed to start happening after I had left the lights on and running down the battery. Also, I noticed that there is a relay associated with the ignition just under the dash on the driver's side that will chatter when I start up the car - at first it would chatter for a few seconds and then fad away, today (7/12/11) it would continue to chatter while I was driving the car (no fade away). I let the car sit and idle for about 2 hours to charge the battery in case it was weak. I allowed the car to sit with the engine off for about 1/2 an hour and then started it up again - the relay chattered briefly. Then I shut off the car and a few minutes later the door lock randomly cycled as before.

My thoughts are thAT the fault may be linked to either a bad/weak charge/charging system or maybe a bad ground issue somewhere - but I don't know.

(reported on)

Accord LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 104,000 miles

Electric door locks repeatedly and randomly cycle after locking up the car from the outside (with the key). Worse in hot weather, the condition persists until the car is unlocked.
