The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. The ignition switch was repaired under recall campaign number 03V423000 which deals with the ignition. The vehicle did not have a problem stalling prior to the recall repair. After the repair the contact stated that the vehicle began to stall without warning. The vehicle was turned off for a few hours and was difficult to start after 3 to 4 attempts. The failure mileage was 105000. The current mileage was 107000.

The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. After turning the key in the ignition, the key must remain in the run position to keep the vehicle on, even while driving. The key is currently stuck in the ignition. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic and the contact was informed that the ignition lock assembly needed to be replaced. Afterwards, he will be able to take the vehicle to the dealer to reprogram the key. The current and failure mileages were 176,360.

The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 02V120000 (electrical system:ignition:switch) in September of 2002. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the ignition switch failed. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage was 130,000 and failure mileage was 127,000. Last spring (4/25/03), I took my 1998 Honda Accord in to the dealer for brakes and while there, they fixed the ignition switch which had been recalled. Ntil then, I had never had a problem starting my car. After the recall replacement, I now have starting problems! it seems that my car will crank normally but not turn over. It appears not to be getting fuel. The car will then start normally after an hour. I have had the car back to the dealer and they can not find anything wrong. I have had the battery and the alternator replaced but I still have this problem. Strangely enough, it does not seem to happen in the cold weather, only on hot days. I am told by the dealer and private mechanics that they need to see it when it will not start in order to diagnose & fix the problem. As I have stated above, it will start after an hour or so, it will start before I can have iit towed to the dealer. I have 39,963 miles on this car and I am the original owner. I have never had any other problems with this car. My daughter's friend had the same year & model car and had the same starting problems. She got rid of the car. I do not want to do this.

Onseveral occasions car would not start when parked on incline. After a few hours car would start. Check engine light was lit at this time. Took to dealer and he indicated to me that it was a catalytic converter problem. Dealer referred to emission specialist. I had the catalytic converter replaced and reset check engine light. Check engine light turned back on after a few days, car would not start after a couple of weeks. I took the car to a local mechanic, he could not find the problem. Now car stalls while at least once a week while in use. I have been parking my car downhill and it starts without a problem. Today, on two different occasions car stalled on the road. For some reason I did not receive notice of ignition switch issues and did not have it replaced.

The key could be removed from other gears besides park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that was the way the vehicle was made. The key could be moved from any gear when the engine was off. (should be manufacturers responsibility)
