This Accord V6 coupe was purchased new by a Honda salesman. All service and warranty work was performed as it should have been. This past December the transmission started to shift hard and slip.Checked the filter and fluid and no change in the problem. Its gotten progressively worst till now,the car is hardly driveable.Safely anyway.Checked on the internet and realized this was a common problem for 1999-2004 Accord cars.I've been bragging on Honda all these years and come to find out I could have steered a few people wrong.I cannot believe Honda not handling their business. It will cost $2500 to $3000 to fix or repair and who has that kind of money in these rough times. Most people bought these cars because of their(Honda) reputation for reliability and planned on having them for 150 to 200,000 miles. How do we get to work now or take our kids to school.Honda should be ashamed of itself.Under the old Bushido Code someone would be committing hari kari over this mess.Good luck to all the other people with these transmission problems.Maybe if enough people yell the top management will fix the problem.Meanwhile avoid Honda cars at all cost.We all make mistakes that's not the issue. Not fixing or trying to fix the problem is the issue.
Update from Dec 18, 2011: The transmission finally quit just before thanksgiving.Had to sell my motorcycle(my whole social life)for the $2,400 needed for a rebuild. My godchild comes first,he needs to get to school, doctor appointments and day care. Merry Christmas Honda.

My wonderful huswband of almost 10 years bought me this car for my birthday this year and I absolutely loved it I have always had a honda and I have never had any problems but this one is the biggest piece of $?:+ Ive hadthe really bad thing is I still love it and so do my kids. It has left me stranded more than once because it wont go into gear. It really pisses me off when it wont change out of first and there is a whole line of traffic behind me and I just know they are giving me a good cussing because I'm cussing the car as well !!
Honda really needs to step up and fix these problems. There is absolutely no excuse for a company as big as HONDA to have this many complaints on the exact same problem and all in the exact same years 1999 thru 2004 and all automatic. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED (not all of us regular paid folk can afford to replace a transmission every 40 to 60,000 miles much less go out and buy a brand new car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) NOT HAPPY ;(

Was stranded in my work parking lot at 9 pm. Gear shifter would not go into gear. Would start just fine. When pressing the brake, I could not depress button on gear shifter.
