problem #1

Dec 302011

Accord EX 3.1lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 129,950 miles

I had this problem originally on 12/16/2008 when the car had 101,697 miles on it. It cost $3, 219.46 to replace the torque converter and linear solenoid again after 129,950 miles. The yearly service was done on a timely manner. What was found was the linear solenoid was the root cause and is a Honda only part. The failure rate on this part is unacceptable and the design of this transmission was poor. I have heard of other Honda Accord owners with v6 and automatic transmissions from 1999 to 2001 had the same problem. Really poor quality and a safety issue and the problem is being swept under the rug. Honda needs to step up to resolve this linear solenoid part issue and compensate those who have experienced this costly near fix. The rest of the car is on point but the transmission, I am not a happy camper.
