When the battery was replaced, the asr light turns on.

Vehicle's dashboard lights do not light up. The is an inconsistent problem, but it continues to be more frequent. The lights will go out while driving, then after turning off the vehicle, they may or may not light back up. Was informed by a mechanic that a bulletin was issued that this was a big problem with Honda. A letter was sent to Honda addressing this issue.

I recently took my car to Honda with problems accelerating up a hill and sometime on flat land and they told me I needed a new transmission at a cost of $4300. I asked to speak with a service manager because I only take my car to Honda to be serviced and now all of a sunden I need a new transmission. Well the service manager told me the transmissions on the 2000 Honda Accord ex V6 were bad. This prompted me to go online and do research, and there were a whole lot of complaints. These complaints stated a lot of issues I had with my car when I first got it specifically I couldnt get my car to shift out of gear from park. My car broke down on me so much in the earlier years it was ridiculous. So I called Honda to no avail since I felt my issues were covered up when I had a warranty with them. They said they couldnt help me im at 116,000 miles and they extended the mileage to 109,000 on their transmissions. I would say that this is bad business for Honda. They should have done a recall. They sevice techs should have been more thorough.

It is possible to turn the ignition key to the off position and remove the key without shifting the transmission to park.

On my Honda Accord 2000, I can remove the ignition key without switching the transmission to 'park'. I parked my car, and left the transmission on 'drive'. the car rolled down the slope and crashed into another car parked few yards away. The description of the recall 05V02500 (ignition-park interlock) matches exactly my car characteristics and the problem I am having with the interlock system. I called Honda and they said that the recall does not apply to my VIN.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but the dealer would not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Dashboard light go out without notice and they turn back on at times. Unable to see at night the speedometer. Gears in car jerk while driving at all times from gear to gear, signs of sand like metal residue in transmission fluid when changed. I purchased the vehicle a little over a year ago and did not think much of it until it became worse and I began to research the possible issues.

2000 V6 Honda Accord died without warning at a stoplight and since then it has become more frequent over shorter and shorter time periods/distances. During the first few several occurrences like this it just died either while stopped or while running but could be re-started by putting car into park gear and re-starting. No warning, no sputtering, no shaking and so on prior to any of the dying. The only indication it has died is the dash panel indicator lights would all be on as though the car was just being started. During re-start the dash panel lights would be lit like they should be just prior to starting. Now as of yesterday the pattern has changed to still dies and the dash panel lights come on but when you shift to park and then try to re-start none of the dash panel lights come on and all you hear is the cranking of the engine but not starting. Eventually after a few minutes (1-5 minutes) of being off you could then re-start the car and the dash panel lights would light up prior to the re-start like they should. Unfortunately toward the end of yesterday that pattern again changed to where the lights would not come on during the attempt to re-start even after 40 minutes. I called Honda on 06/18/2013 and spoke to an agent and told her that I believe this is the same issue that Honda had a recall for dealing with the ignition switch under recall#:36754 in the usa and also another in Canada for the identical issue my Accord is demonstrating. Honda seems to want to hid behind the idea that if my VIN is not in the recall then I am out of luck. This is a life threatening driving condition the car dies while moving without warning. I am sure they are other owners with this same issue (web is full of owners decreeing this issue) that have just had car repaired but never filed report here to bring issue to your organization's attention.

The ignition kay be taken out while the car is not in parking gear. The keys can switch off the car engine while its in gear and going at a speed. Its a safety concern. I spoke to Honda and they would not honor this a S a safety recall.

Ignition switch does not block the removal of the ignition key when the vehicle isn't in park. I have parked my car, removed my key not realizing the car is in park, this caused my vehicle to roll which could have caused and accident or damage to property. There are previous recalls on the 2000 Honda Accord however Honda advised that my vehicle is not part of the recall however it is having the same issue. Previous recall campaign id number PE05002 as well as PE03014.

The SRS light came on. Honda tells us that the component that regulates the airbags (a MINIcomputer in the dash?) has failed and must be replaced. Honda advises that, until replaced, the airbags will not work. Based on the internet research I have done, this appears to be a fairly common problem. Honda wants to charge $1000 to replace the unit, although it appears that the component is available online for about $325, and requires about an hour of labor to install. This seems to us to be a pretty fundamental safety issue, and this component should be engineered to last well beyond the anticipated lifetime of the vehicle.

Air conditioner stopped working and all lights on HVAC control panel went out. A small amount of smoke filled passenger compartment and temperature control knob became warm and loose. The plastic temperature control knob came off and I burned myself on the metal temperature control shaft which the knob attaches to. The metal temperature easily exceeded 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the car was parked and cooled down I removed the HVAC control panel from the dash. The plastic is melted where the temperature control knob is and on the inside of the control panel. I removed the circuit board from the control panel and it smells like burned electronics. The circuit board has brown burn marks and bubbling on the board itself. The entire HVAC control unit will have to replaced at the cost of $200-$300.

I spoke with a customer service representative by the name of [xxx] from american Honda motor co., Inc. On June 12, 2005 about an SRS related problem relating to their technical service bulletin 06-009 dated February 5, 2008. I was told that the warranty has already expired because the vehicle is more than 10 years old even if the mileage is less than 124,000 miles. I am the second owner of the vehicle when it was purchased from a private party back in 2004. Since these models came without an air conditioning unit, I had one installed the same year (2004) at the closest dealership near our place of residence. Because of this service, they should have updated the ownership record for this vehicle to reflect my name as the new owner. When this bulletin came out, Honda failed to furnish me a copy of the tsb since I only found out from them on June 25, 2012 that the said vehicle was still registered with the first owner. When the problem about the SRS unit occurred which was directly related to the bulletin they released on February 5, 2008 they would not honor the bulletin anymore and even told me that my vehicle was not covered, even if the bulletin specifically states that the vehicles affected included "2000-2001 Honda Accord 2-dr and 4-dr: All with opds". I went to the dealership last Friday, 6/22/2012 without knowing that this tsb ever existed and they were charging me a substantial fee to get it fixed even though it is a factory defect and should be fixed by them without cost to me. My complaint is that they failed to furnish me a copy of the service bulletin and now that this problem has occurred to my vehicle they will not honor that service bulletin. The contact had to wait ten to twenty minutes to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that the transmission shift malfunctioned. The vehicle was also experiencing problems with the ignition where it would not read the key to start the vehicle. The private mechanic stated that it would take ten attempts to start the vehicle so that the ignition could read the key. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 132,346.
