Ignition key can be removed when the shifter is in non-park position and couple of times when this happened, the vehicle rolled away. This failure symptom was captured in NHTSA 05V-025, but, when asked, Honda motor company responded that the NHTSA mandate didn't include this VIN number. This suggests there may a reason to expand the VIN numbers affected by this mandate.

I am able to remove the key from my ignition when my car is in gear. I have checked the NHTSA database and this is a recall issue on 2000 Honda Accord (NHTSA campaign id number: 05V025000 ). I went to Honda and spoke with the corporate customer service and there is nothing they will do for me as my car's VIN number is not associated with this recall. I would like to have my car's VIN added to the recall list, as it is exhibiting the recall symptoms and needs to be fixed.

For no apparent reason at all (no moisture problem; no cell phone, computer, etc. Use; no disconnecting anything at all, much less related to seat belts, passenger seat occupancy, seat removal, etc.) the SRS light came on and has remained on for many months. Google shows this to be a widespread problem, which has triggered a very wide range of responses from Honda. This has been a wonderful car given timely completion of all scheduled maintenance. But the SRS light problem, since it involves the safety restraining systems, should be guaranteed for the life of the car. But, given the various ways people with this issue have been treated, I am reluctant to take the vehicle to Honda. It may only require a reset for the light, which should cost nothing. But charges for a diagnosis are in the $70-100 range. Then, if there is actually a problem with safety, fixes have cost in a range of $600-1500. The whole situation is absurd.

The above information was from the most recent incident, however this problem has existed for several years. My wife has told me about the problem with the ignition switch that allows this car to have the keys removed while the car is in drive and the engine is off (NHTSA action number peo5002). She contacted Honda while in orlando fl but they said the recall was not for her VIN. This is still problem and I contacted Honda today and was told I could have it fixed but would have to pay for it. I am not sure but I believe this car should be included in the recall if the problem exists on it. Please let me know what I have to do so Honda will comply with their recall.

I own a 2000 Honda Accord that I purchased brand new. The car has been shutting down while I am on the road with no warning. This happens at different speeds. Also when I pull over the engine will start immediately, but now it is hard to start and will stall immediately after starting it. I took my car to dealer on 6/7/11. The dealership had my car until June 9, 2011, but said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So far I have been lucky that nobody has been behind me when the car has died. I called the dealer again on 6/18/11 and spoke with anita, who made it seem like I was crazy. She said they would have checked for any open recalls. I looked on line and I found that this has been an ongoing problem for other Honda owners. My car has 103,000 miles, and this started happening in February, but is occurring more frequently. I did some research and found out that you investigated this under campaign number 02V120000 but I didnt see that 2000 Accord were included in this. The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the ignition switch interlock failed; the key was able to be removed from the ignition even when the vehicle was not in the park position. The contact parked the vehicle and removed the key. The vehicle then rolled down a hill into some bushes. The contact was informed by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in recall 05V025000 (electrical system: Ignition: Switch). The current and failure mileages were 120,000.

Failure of opds unit on my 2000 Honda Accord 4-door V-6. as an outcome of a joint action lawsuit Honda agreed to extend the opds warranty to 10 years from the delivery date of the vehicle or 156,000 miles. My opds unit has failed just 3 months after the 10 year extension. This is the 2nd sds system failure as the seat belt sensor has failed in the past. Honda now covers the seat belt failure on the many Accord models for lifetime as the failure is common. Failure of sds airbag system on Honda Accord and other Honda vehicle models is an on-going chronic problem that renders the entire airbag system inactive upon any component failure. This is a serious safety hazard to owners and due to the high cost to repair the sds system many owners cannot afford to make the sds airbag system operative again. Honda must step up to insuring that lifetime warranties on the sds systems are in place for all owners as an sds failure may result in injury or death for the vehicle owners. Way too many sds system failures have been documented by Honda dealers and owners. Who knows just how many "red lights" are actually on the dashboards of Honda Accord out there that simply don't get fixed due to the high cost of repair?

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord coupe. The contact stated that on June 2, 2010 while sitting at a stop sign, she noticed smoke emitting from the steering module. The windshield wiper fluid began spurting followed by a sizzling sound. The noise disappeared when the vehicle lights were turned off. The contact called the manufacturer who referred her to an authorized dealership where she would be responsible for repair expenses. The current and failure mileages were approximately 140,000.

After I removed my key from the ignition and was getting out, I noticed that the car started to roll. I then realized that the transmission was still in drive. I checked for recalls on this vehicle and found recall fitting this description and for my make model and year. NHTSA action number: PE05002. This problem is repeatable. I called Honda at 1-800-999-1009 and was told that my VIN was not included in this recall.. we took the car to my local Honda dealer, who confirmed the problem and also told me that the recall did not match my VIN. Dealership is ed napleton Honda 636-928-1155. Invoice # 227162. Estimate $596 plus taxes. We purchased this car new on August 16, 1999 and this is an early 2000 Honda Accord. We feel that this car should be included in this recall program. Please advise. Thanks.

The issue at hand involves a 2000 Honda Accord (coupe); I am able to turn the car off and remove the key from the ignition without putting the car into park. I am not sure of when this issue began. However, in mid-2008, I mistakenly left the car in drive and removed the key when parking my car in a parking lot, I left the parking lot and my car proceeded to roll backward and struck another vehicle at some point. This happened again this month. After this point, I researched recall information and saw that in 2005, NHTSA issued campaign 05V025000. I took my car into a dealer to have the issue investigated. My vehicle did indeed have the same issue (malfunctioning interlock) as the one in the recall, but my VIN was not a part of that recall. It seems odd to me that though my car falls into the date range, make and model of this recall and possesses the same issue described in the recall. I am not convinced that this is a coincidence. I am in danger of losing coverage as a result of this malfunction.

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the key could be removed from the ignition without the vehicle being placed into park. The shifter would also display that the vehicle was in park and drive at the same time. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 05V025000 (electrical system:ignition:switch), although the failures were identical. The failure and current mileages were less than 170,000.
