During a normal drive and then a stop at a red light, car's engine stalls. After auto shop examination, the conclusion was that the ball bearing in the engine's tensioner locked up, thus throwing the timing belt off and bending valves due to incorrect timing. A whole new engine was required to fix it because of the extensive damage. Old engine has been removed and replaced and I don't think it would be available.

Surge on acceleration. From a cold start my car excels normally. If make a stop for a few minutes or a couple of hours get in and it accelerates to about 20-25mph and dies. If I hold the pedal it will accel after a few second, if I pump the pedal a couple of time it will accel. Cruising at 65+ I can feel a slight jerking. This all started after getting a check engine light and code PO131 to replace the primary O2 sensor. A new sensor was the oem equivalent from autozone. If I disconnect the O2 sensor the problem goes away. Car is well maintained and has 228,000 miles.

My "malfunction indicator lamp' on my 6 cylinder 2000 Honda Accord came on. The dealer let me know that their diagnostics pointed to a problem with cylinder #4. he had me authorize a $1000 "tear down the engine" estimate in case my extended warranty didn't cover the repair. American Honda Corp sent their adjuster to determine that it was excessive carbon build up in the engine which is not covered by my extended warranty. The dealer had the parts sent to a machinist to determine if there is a damaged part in the cylinder that would be covered under warranty. I have been given a $2300 approximate repair bill to pay on my own if no damage is found. Not that long ago, I spent $300 at the dealership cleaning a carbon build up problem that was causing my accelerator to stick.

Check engine lights on - making driver thinking there's something wrong with engine. Since I have a child I took my car to manchester Honda, found that my gas cap was not on tight. Manchester Honda charged me $163 and this is the biggest scam Honda ever does this and how many people did they do this too...

At 84,366 miles my car's check engine light came on. Took Accord to mechanic and was told the egr valve error code appeared. The mechanic said to take to Honda due to recall for this part. Picked car up from mechanic and car also had SRS light on. Researched online since I already have recall for dash light. Found many other Honda owners with same SRS light. Found out my air bags will not function if sensor illuminated. Also, called Honda and they said I was beyond the mileage (80K) for the extended warranty on the defective egr valve replacement. Asked what Honda was doing about the front airbags and was told no decision has been made. I have also discovered my car has the extended warranty for defective/faulty transmission. So when I'm driving down the highway my tranmsmission may give out at high rate of speed and if collsion occurs, my air bags will not deploy. My seat weld joint broke at 54K too! I used a 99 Toyota 4runner as replacement vehicle and discovered the seatbelt warning light came on when my 40lb. Dog sat in passenger front seat. My Accord never has detected my dog in the front seat ever! this car is riddled with safety defects and poor manufacturing. Honda should be held responsible for protecting the owners from injury including monetary repairs/ replacement costs for all of these safety defects and engine defects.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX V6 4door sedan. After the vehicle has been driven for about 20 minutes, the engine failed to start after it was shut off for 5-10 minutes. The first time this happened, the car was only 2 years old. Each time I try to restart the engine, the engine would turnover and run for about 2 seconds and then stalled. Each time I would have to depress the gas to get the engine going and if I release the gas, the engine would die. The engine sounds like it's running out of gas and just die. The strange part is if I can get the car in gear and drive with the gas applied for about one block, the engine would return to normal. This can be dangerous since I have to depress the gas and brake at the same time so the vehicle would stay in control. I went to the dealer and they hooked up some kind of computer to the car and they said they were unable to find any problem. The Accord is a nice car but this constant engine-starting problem needs to be addressed.

The tranmission will shift gears very losely and makes a clunking sound but only when it is in reverse. Now it shifts slugishly. Took dealer to the dealer twice and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Now they think it is the motor mounts. The first time this happened was in October of 2002. Dash board lighting goes blank. A faulty multiflex light unit was found. Front brakes worn. Check engine light was on. Found faulty egr valve assembly and replaced. SRS light is on. Faulty opds unit was found.

The vehicle is a 2000 Honda Accord V6 ex, the cylinder has a cracked head. On 6-18-05 consumer was driving when white smoke came out of the dual exhaust. Consumer had vehicle towed to the dealership. They told her that it was because of the cracked cylinder head. The coolant mixed with the oil and caused hot steam to come from the vehicle. Previously the SRS light came on. Consumer believed that it meant the air bags were disabled. Nothing has been done to fix the vehicle. It is currently at the dealership.

Experiencing a thump as the ingition is released from the start position or as the engine starts.this noise occurs only on a cold start, usually overnight. Dealer mechanic tells me that the noise appears to be coming from the rear motor mount. Honda has issued a service bulletin pertaining to this noise, but the dealer mechanic tells me that hnnda's service engineers tells him that the service bulletin pertains to the Honda 4cyl only, and not the 6cyl it seems to me that the service bulletin issued for the 2000 Honda 4cyl. Should also cover the 2000 Honda 6cyl. In closing I might add that this same type noise has also been heard in the Honda 2001 6cyl. Thank you for your help.
