problem #1

May 012010

Accord LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

This happens after I drive for 30 minutes, especially after going through stop and go traffic. I will run an errand, and come back 10 minutes later. Then when I try to start the car it immediately dies. The only way to get it going is to start it and gun it for 2 or 3 minutes. Then I throw it in reverse and go as quickly as possible. Once the car is in drive, it will run a little rough for 10 seconds and then be ok. This only happens intermittently, but is happening more and more often. Now the car is dying while I'm driving down the highway. There are no warning lights or anything. Also, my low fuel light has not been working for a while now. Not sure if that's related or not.

I had the main relay replaced($208) and the battery ($200), and this seemed to fix the problem for about 6 months. Now the problem is cropping up all over again. I wonder if I need to replace the relay again or if something is burning it out. I have read about this problem all over the internet, but haven't seen anyone give a good solution. It seems like this should be a recall since it is so prevalent.
