About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
In may of 2008 my 2000 Honda Accord lost power while driving and would not restart. All of the gas ran out from the front of the car. The computer board had gone out. The computer board was replaced by another mechanic and then was towed to the Honda dealership to be reprogrammed. Since then it has gone back and was diagnosed with misfires. The coil packs, plugs and wires, fuel injectors, egr valve all have been replaced. The car is still spitting and sputtering like it is running on 4 cylinders and it is a V6. I have researched and there seems to be alot of these problems. Also the SRS light stays on and you can turn the car off and remove the key without the car being in park. I never received any kind of recall from the dealerships on this recall. This car was bought new in 2000.

The alternator went out on the car with approximately 55,000 miles which is way too soon. The check engine light came on a couple of weeks later and had to replace the egr valve (covered under warranty). The right headlamp has been replaced at least 5 times since owning the car. It has been checked for an electrical short and nothing could be found. The factory-installed cd player failed at approximately 37,000 miles. I have always heard good things about the Honda, but I have not been too pleased with all the little nitpicking stuff. The original tires were replaced at the approximately 50000 mile mark. The new tires were dunlaps which failed within 8 months. Hopefully the new ones will make it.
