This is a manufacturer's fault as it is mentioned on the web as well as by auto shops about the transmission. The car can stop anytime! I have spent thousands of $$ already fixing other parts and cannot fix this problem as this is a known problem/default from the manufacturers. Please all raise your voice and have the company take care of this as they are not helping me in this matter!

Transmission in 2000 Honda Accord was diagnosed by two mechanics (independent and Honda dealer) as requiring replacement quoted at over $3800. Symptoms included: Gear shift slippage, D4 indicator light flashing, delayed gear engagement, erratic and harsh shifting resulting in the car lurching forward while in drive, atf leak, erratic acceleration, and the left differential diagnosed with excessive play. Car had been well maintained, keeping all fluid levels monitored and in check with routine maintenance. After calling Honda America, I was told that "due to age" the "company's position" was that they were unable to provide assistance of any kind despite previous reports of the transmission in 2000 Accord as being a known manufacturer's error/faulty production. Honda admitted error on the issue but remained firm that they would not support resolution. Am left with vehicle in undrivable condition that is unsafe on the road due to erratic transmission behavior. At one point, the vehicle lurched forward uncontrollably, nearly hitting a pedestrian. Request NHTSA follow-up and investigation of ongoing transmission issues with these vehicles, encouraging consumer resolution options for Honda owners. Resolution should not be limited to age of vehicle when safety of consumers and other drivers are at hand. These vehicles should not be allowed on the road with faulty transmissions. Had I been aware of the safety issue, I would not have purchased my Honda. Thank you!

The transmissions on my 2000 Honda Accord LX V6 started slipping then erratically revving up to 4000 rpms then shift all the sudden. And most of the time when I shift to reverse it just does a huge clunk noise and a sudden hard shift then goes into reverse. My Honda only have 93,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. While stopped at a traffic signal the contact removed pressure from the brake pedal when the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact placed the vehicle in neutral while applying pressure to the brake pedal and parked the vehicle. The contact shut the vehicle off and restarted the engine. The vehicle accelerated on its own twice. The contact could also hear a grinding sound in the transmission. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were notified and stated they could not provide assistance because the warranty had expired. The approximate failure mileage was.

Automatic transmission has been slipping hard for quite some time. Transmission has always been checked at regular scheduled maintenance. Transmission fluid has been replaced according to manufacturer's maintenance schedule. On 4/24/11 transmission would not engage while merging on a busy road, almost causing an accident. Transmission would not engage into 1st gear returning vehicle to home. This vehicle has very low mileage.

Bought this Accord for my 16 year old daughter because is was a safe reliable car to start with. It was impeccably maintained by the dealer. She told me that the car was starting to "jerk" when driving it. I confirmed it was "jerking". I went online and found that Honda has had significant transmission problems with this model and several. Now I'm looking at a significant repair or probably replacement of the transmission. I contacted the dealer and they told me it will require a new transmission without even looking at it.

I'd drive down the freeway or up a hill to get to a parking structure at school and the car would stall and slip gears where I thought it would roll backwards or people behind me would get annoyed and pass at relatively close and high speeds. I was on my way home from work one night when the transmission completely went out on me roughly 2 blocks away from my house. I barely could make it over 10 mph and had my car sit in the parking lot for 6 months. My brother has put in a new battery and suggested I put new transmission fluid in, but the fluid is full and the car still slips. I knew it was a transmission problem which is more complicated since I know that's a lot more pricey than what I can afford right now, and all I want is for my car to be in working order again since this car should last a lot longer since it's been taken care of.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX 4cyl coupe which was given a new transmission at 97K miles because of a recall. It has 140K miles now and the transmission is slipping again. My Honda dealership is telling me the only solution is to replace it and that it needs to be done asap. They will not pay for it this time even though this one only has $40K miles on it. They want me to pay $2200. After researching on the internet, this type of transmission problem is widespread on this model Accord.

I am the original owner of a 2000 Honda Accord and have had to replace the transmission for the 4th time. First time @ 60,000 miles, than 80,000 miles, than 140,000 miles. Honda sucks... all they tell me now is it's out of warranty. Obviously the 2000 Accord have major transmission issues.

2000 Honda Accord ex V6 has transmission problems... when car goes from 1st to 2nd it slips really bad. It is a safety hazard because when I'm behind someone and hit the gas it revs up and nothing happens and then it catches and the tires spin. I almost hit someone today with a child in the car. This needs to be fixed now!

2000 Honda Accord whining noise -dealer inspected -said okay to drive.within twenty miles - car stopped moving forward - manually shifted gears - worked temporarily until got car stopped in parking lot - then nothing - towed back to dealer and received diagnosis next day of transmission failure. Surprised because dealer had changed transmission at 33,000 under an extended warranty due to known transmission problems. No recall per manufacturer, but offer warranty due to their concern. Online reports on www.carcomplaints.com show hundreds of similar problems. This transmission only had 19,000 miles and now needs to be replaced again. This car is owned by an 84 year old woman who has owned it from the beginning. Think this warrants a closer look since its pretty dangerous to have a transmission go out without warning while driving down the road. Now we have to decide if this car is worth fixing if this is a repetitive defect.
