Accord EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

The car won't start after it has been sitting in the sun for a few hours. After doing some research online, it seems that the main fuel pump relay needs to be replaced.

This is what someone else said online:

"Most likely the main fuel pump relay is the problem.

These relays have a history on Honda's that if the interior of the vehicle gets hot, the engine won't start. If the interior cools down, the engine starts.

The relay is located under the dash, above the drivers left knee."

I was deployed to Irag for 6 months and had my Dad warmed up my car weekly. However, he just emailed me and said the car won't start this week. The battery is still good, lights are on bright. When he turns the key, there's this whining sound from the engine, sounds like something wrong or broken with the starter. But how could it happens if the car is just sitting in the garage. Could it? :(
