My son is an approved seatbelt claimant in the Takata Bankruptcy class action suit. (#4842) He became a paraplegic when his 2003 Honda Accord rolled once after encountering a road surface change from asphalt to gravel. His seatbelt pre-tensor failed as did his airbags. His T-13 L-1 spinal cord injury is conducive to seat belt failure.. A bone spur from his vertebre broke off and went into his spinal cord. By the time our head cleared from the whole ordeal, we were one month out of the statue of limitations. (which is 2 years in the state of Colorado) Shortly thereafter we received a card in the mail informing us of the Takata class action suit. We were glad we still had an avenue for an injury claim. Fast forward 4+ years and we have recently found out that the 33 approved Takata seatbelt claimants have $1,140,000 to share amongst themselves. Some claimants lost loved ones from the faulty seatbelt sensors and seatbelt malfunctions. Based on this current fund amount, Lee will likely only receive between 20,000 to 40,000 for his injury. Very little for the inability to walk, go to the bathroom, loss of sexual function and having to deal with consistent nerve pain. I recently became aware of the ZF-TRW Class action complaint and realize the parameters of the nonfunctioning airbag and seatbelt pre-tensor fit the parameters of my sons accident. The Honda Accord 2014-2015 vehicles are listed as having problematic ZF-TRW parts. My sons 2003 Honda Accords ACU was replaced in January/February of 2015. I suspect that the part was replaced with the same ACU used in the new 2014-2015 Honda Accords. Takata seat belt class action suit settlement does not preclude anyone from collecting compensation for injury from another source. My son should have walked away from this accident.

SRS warning light is on continuously. Independ shop says error code is for driver front seat belt latch sensor. Honda dealers says sensor is not part of lifetime warranty for seat belts, even though sensor is fully integrate with seat belt latch, and part of the vital safety system. Independent shop is reluctant to repair for liability and Honda dealer want huge payment for simple repair. It is unfair and unethical for dealer and manufacturer to not honor there printed warranty.

My airbags were recalled twice, then the sensor. Now my transmission wen at 82,000 miles. When Honda disagnosed the car before fixing the passenger airbag sensor, the code $61.10 came up - my airbag light continually goes on and off. Honday refuses to fix the seatblet issue that is affecting the airbag light on driver's side. I already had five neck surgeries form my 1990 Lexus 250 ES the most dangerous of all airbags. Honda refuses to repair the seat beat that is affecting the airbag and airbag lights. Help

Honda denying warranty repair for seat belt error code dtc 54-50 malfunction for the SRS (for which I was also charged $65 by dealer to apply diagnostic code analyzer). User manual states broadly: "seat belt limited warranty -- a seat belt that fails to function properly is covered for the useful life of the car." Honda states such lifetime warranty per law allows it to limit repairs to the belt strap material and the metal buckle only, and law does not extend to embedded electric controls which engage restraint when braking or send audible alarm to user when operating without buckle being inserted.

My son was involved in a single car roll over accident on 10/10/2015. He was traveling about 40 miles per hour when the road surface changed from asphalt to gravel. He lost control of the car and the vehicle did one complete rotation landing back on its tires. The seat belt did not hold causing his head to hit the inside roof of vehicle and throwing him from side to side as the vehicle rolled over. My son suffered a L1 burst fracture, damaging his spinal cord, which left him a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair. Airbag did not deploy, which due to the fact that it was a side rollover, sensors may not have been trigged. The car did however, have damage to the front, left front, left rear and right front of the vehicle. My son was 25 at the time of the accident.

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated prior to being repaired for NHTSA campaign numbers: 15V370000 (air bags) and 15V320000 (air bags). The vehicle was repaired, but the failure was not remedied. The russel smith Honda dealer was contacted and diagnosed the issue as a seat belt failure. The dealer offered to perform a diagnostic test, but the contact declined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and also stated that the failure was due to the seat belts and not the air bags. The failure mileage was approximately 89,900.

On 7/21/15 I took my Honda to the dealer at 9213 harford road, 21234, for safety recall 15V-320 & 370, and it was repaired. The SRS light came on intermittently and they scanned for code and said that the SRS unit was malfunctioning and was not covered under the recall. A repair price was quoted of $735. After further investigation, I found out that many other Honda owners had the same problem and were quite upset over this safety malfunction. I wrote a letter to Honda customer service asking for their assistance in covering the cost of repair or "lifetime" warranty coverage. This is definitely a safety issue and nothing to do with the maintenance of my vehicle which has only 64,000 miles. A rep responded by phone and said there was nothing they could do because the car was "old." Whether the car is older or new, this is still a "safety" problem that many owners are experiencing and should be addressed by the Honda company or the NHTSA. The dealer did not give me a code number after the scan so I don't even know if it was correct. I request your assistance in checking out the safety issue on the SRS units in the Honda Accord. I don't know if anyone has been hurt because of this malfunction, but it could happen. I would appreciate a recall and assistance in replacing the unit, if that is the cause. I purchased this vehicle new and have not had many problems outside of a few recalls. I plan to keep it as it is not in my budget to acquire a new vehicle at this time. Safety of Honda vehicle or any vehicle is of utmost importance in their marketing.

Intermittently the air bag light turns on when starting car and remains on. May stay off for a month or just a few days and then it goes on again. The problem is attributed to the seat belt latch which is the only part covered under lifetime warranty. My concern is that this happened to a close acquaintance with same make, model, & year vehicle (purchased in same state but different dealer). Too coincidental that it is not a larger problem.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord ex with an erratic SRS light. I've had it to the dealership three times for repair. 1st time: Couldn't find a problem because the light went out. 2nd time: They had the car 2 days and replaced the driver's side seat belt tensioner. Thought it was fixed but then the light came on again. This time they said it showed SRS codes 22-8 (a short) and 51-2. they ruled out the short and are saying by the process of elimination the SRS unit has to be replaced for $411. I don't think I should have to pay for this based on what I've read about this issue. What can I do now?

Incident: On June 16th, around 10 am, we were traveling from fort wayne Indiana, to the cincinnati area for a visit with our daughter. Driving along I-75 in Ohio, at about 65 mph, the right side or passenger airbags deployed and the right front seat (occupied) belt retracted. Upon arrival at our destination I called performance Honda in fairfield Ohio, the dealer nearest our destination, and relayed what had happened. I was instructed to bring the car in the next morning, Thursday June 17, so the dealership could inspect the car and attempt to determine why the side air bags and seat belt deployed while driving straight down the road. By Tuesday, June 22 we were told we would know what Honda would do and we could come in and pick up the car. When we arrived at the dealership we were advised that Honda engineers believed we had struck something, based on a very small scratch in the undercoating on the bottom of the car, and that caused the deployment of the airbags. We picked up the car and returned home to fort wayne on Wednesday. Thursday morning, June 24 we spoke in person with the general manager of don ayres Honda where we had purchased the vehicle. We expressed our position that the airbags and seat belt should not have deployed and Honda should make all repairs under warranty. Complaint: Side air bags should not deploy in a vehicle traveling in a straight line at 65 mph. From the owner's manual page 47 and again on page 48: "in a moderate to severe side impact, the sensors will detect rapid deceleration and signal the control unit to instantly inflate either the driver's or the passenger's side airbag. Only one airbag will deploy during a side impact. If the impact is on the passenger's side, the passenger's side airbag will deploy even if there is no passenger." There was no impact, side or otherwise and certainly none that could be considered "moderate to severe"!
