We bought our 5th Honda car new in 2005, Accord DX 4cyl auto trans. The door lock tumblers went out in the first six months. Honda dealership REFUSED to replace, instead just remedy. This problem persisted throughout the 3 year warranty period with HONDA refusing replacement, never admitting fault, never furnishing us any customer goodwill WHATSOEVER. We even purchased our 6th Honda, a 2004 Honda Element during this frustrating experience and yes, you guessed it. Honda could CARE LESS!
Long story short, we've paid more than $1500.00 in repairs to have our car lockable. We've had to actually pay to have the steering lock column and ignition replaced due to the same FAULTY LOCK TUMBLERS. Most independent Honda shops will verify that HONDA screws the customer in its warranty fine print on this defect and we're still paying the price.
One day we will be rid of our last Honda car, this poor Accord DX. The real pathetic part; the thing is a POS from the get go. Had I known Honda would scrimp on things as rudimentary as getting a door lock mechanism right I would never have bought the car. I wondered why the Accord handled so poorly and was told Honda was too cheap to mount a rear stabilizer torsion bar on the rear axle. That's HONDA for you!
I will suggest to anybody out there considering Honda automobiles...do your homework. See what the fuel mileage statistics are showing on recent Honda cars. You got it, some of the lowest rated mileage in the industry.
We bought Volkswagen and then Toyota since this experience and have never looked back, and will never, ever again be fooled by Honda's B.S. claims from their bought-off consumer reports. Google for the real information before believing Honda's advertising.
