The peeling started when I moved to the south from Virginia. Must be something in the air here. Now it looks ugly. It's all over the car on the roof, hood, and back.

The clear coat is failing on the roof, hood, quarter panel, window edge and looks HORRIBLE! It began in one small area and is spreading.
Read there is paint recall for Civics but not Accords.
There is a class action lawsuit for 2003-2007 Honda vehicles but only includes California and New York residents. http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/07/27/HondaCA.pdf
I will NOT buy another Honda unless my car is recalled and the paint issues fixed.

The clear coating started coming off on the passenger side quarter panel and it is also starting to come off in other places too.

We pay a lot for vehicles. Paint is not something that should have to be paid for twice if it is not aging as it is supposed to. Half of the paint looks great for the car's age, but the other half looks like someone scrubbed it with steel wool. It's ridiculous that the paint is wearing out in some places but not others - it almost looks like it's two different cars! Honda should pay for the paint to be restored with a quality of paint that will wear evenly, as that is what we paid for to begin with.

Horrible paint on my car and the majority of others I see of similar age. Obviously there is a problem and Honda should step up and take care of it.

Like many others, the black paint on my 2005 Accord is failing. Roof, trunk, etc. look absolutely terrible. I'm embarrassed to park my car in my neighborhood or in the parking lot at work. So much for Honda having any kind of classy image. Now I have a white-trash-mobile.

This paint is really terrible. I always saw Hondas with the same issue and thought to myself, how can people not wash their car and let the paint get like that. Then i noticed small white patches on the paint of my car and started to wonder if it was happening to my car?? No way it couldn't be i washed it every other week. Well about 3 years later the paint is just awful. I don't have the money to drop on a paint job so it has been repainted hopefully Honda does something about this. I know I'm not the only one i saw Hondas looking like this everyday.

This seems to be a very common problem with Honda. My Clear coat started completely falling off within the last two years or so. When I call Honda, I get the same run around as I am sure they give everyone else. "you did not wash it enough," "you washed it too much." "you used the wrong kind of soap," "you left it in the sun too much," and my personal favorite, "well, you're out of warranty so....." I realize it would cost Honda a significant amount of money to repaint all the vehicles that have fallen victim to their cheap paint. But let's be real, the aforementioned excuses are NOT the source of the problem. The problem is the paint Honda uses. This is evidenced by the recent class action lawsuit where they were required to extend the warranty on the paint for Honda Odysees for seven additional years. On what color you may ask? mostly the darker colors including MIDNIGHT PEARL. It just so happens this is the exact same color I have on my accord. I wish Honda would do the right thing here. No owner should have to pay thousands of dollars to repaint their whole vehicle after a few years of ownership. So, no I'm left with a care which runs great (good job there Honda), but looks like a piece of crap. My wife is embarrassed to drive it, it looks horrible, and each time I call Honda about it I get the memorized excuses. The service department had become good at giving them because I am sure they are plagued with hundreds of complaints about the paint melting off their vehicles every year. Repaint my car Honda!!!

The clearcoat and paint is obviously failing. They have recalled numerous models of this car for the exact same thing, but refuse to recall the Accord. The estimate to repaint is approximately $7000, so my car is basically worth $3000 due to this defect. Local dealership refused to acknowledge or help. Sent pictures to corporate and after over a month of contact, they are also declining to take responsibility for their defective paint.

Honda has a history from the 03 year onward having multiple cars paint and clear coats fading off and fading the paint off of the car in the roof trunk and slightly hood. Quarter panels where they hit the 90 degree angle coming into the windows even have a line of paint fading off. Honda does not accept that this is an ongoing problem.

Never had this paint/clear coat problem on any car I've ever owned. This is a widespread problem on Honda cars and I am aware that there have been class action suits. Clearly, this problem is not caused by Honda owners. Whatever paint or clear coat is being used by Honda is defective or substandard. It is unfortunate because Honda makes good cars, but this will prevent me from ever purchasing another Honda - particularly because Honda is aware of the problem and has not taken any steps to remediate or compensate Honda owners. I'm the original owner, car has never been in an accident and I have taken good care of the car, but it looks disgusting.

The clear coat is chipping on the roof, hood, rear spoiler, and other areas. It looks like a clunker even though it runs great.

Honda knows they have a paint problem because they have recalled a select group of vehicles. Seems the darker colors are giving the most trouble and they should fix it, Period! We pay the price we do for the vehicles and expect the paint to last longer than 9 years in my case.

Paint looks really bad. I've tried numerous times to find out about the warranty on the faulty paint and gotten nowhere.

I bought Honda Accord 2005 from a private party in 2012 January. About 4 months ago, the colorcoat started peeling off. I am not sure if Honda will repaint it for me. I feel embarrassed driving this car now. Help is much appreciated.

I called Honda of America and they told me to bring it to a dealer to evaluate the issue. They agreed to pay half of the cost of the paint job. This only includes repainting the roof and the trunk of the car which are the problem areas. It would cost $2200. so they would give me $1100. and it must be done by a dealer. I took it to my local body shop he told me $1100.00 to repaint the sames areas. If Honda would allow me to to bring it to them it would cost me nothing but this is not the case. This never should have happened in the first place. The car should not have started peeling at 66000 miles. This is definitely a problem Honda. Do something about it. This is my 2nd Honda and I seriously will consider another kind of car for my next vehicle. Not a happy camper!

I have owned Hondas since 1984 and have owned some of them up to the car being 20 years old and not ONE of them has ever had an issue with the original paint on the car. None of them were ever in a garage but Honda refused to admit the need for a recall and refuses to take responsibility. If they do not remedy the situation before I buy a new car, I can assure you it will not be a Honda.
