The catalytic converter went out just in time to evade the warranty on the car. My extended warranty wouldn't cover it. It went out at 82,000 miles and it's only covered to 80,000. I did hear that this was premature, but that it happens on the Honda Accord. The repair is pricey as I bought it in California and they have higher environmental standards (that part is good), so you can't buy an after market converter. The cost was $1,100 after installation. They nearly put the wrong one on in New Mexico at the Honda dealership. Luckily, I called my old dealership in California as they were out of stock here and they said I had the incorrect part number.
