2005 Honda Accord fire danger. The catalytic converter heat shields fell off while driving and almost caused an accident. The catalytic converter is warranteed 8 years or 80,000 miles. I took the auto to a Honda dealer. They contacted the Honda company customer service representative and she refuses to pay any part of the repair. We also called the Honda representative several times without any help from Honda. The reason the catalytic converter has heat shields is to prevent fires from heat given off by the catalytic converter. The auto is unsafe without the heat shields which surround and are part of the catalytic converter a major emission control devise.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated the fuel gauge reading dropped to empty, and the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminating on the instrument panel. The failure recurred on three occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified and they informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 05V132000 (electrical system:fuses and circuit breakers). No other assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 147,135.

My car suddenly accelerated upon exiting a car wash as I changed from neutral to drive. The design of the exit lane from the car wash driveway and access to the four lane street where the car wash is located does not allow for any speed as there are two sharp turns. My car sped across the driveway, into a culvert and toward the heavy traffic. I applied the brakes immediately and steered the car away from the street, crossing several business parking lots and landscaped areas. My 2005 Honda Accord received several thousands dollars in damage. Honda denied it was warranty and did not show me the computer diagnostic evaluation. In fact, this information seemed to be closely guarded by the service department at Honda orr in hot springs, ar. I was told to contact my insurance company for repairs. This car experienced what I would explain as an open throttle which may be a new problem for computerized cars. I have taken several photos of my car and the scene, which shows several feet of skid marks.
