Accord LX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission

My Accord is overall a fairly good vehicle, but there is an issue with some of the stock radio /cd systems.

Mine started to just cut out at times and and would come back later, it got worse over several months, until it added screeching noises and then went dead. surprisingly it would work again a few days later, until it finally completely stopped.

After some research and not liking the option to pay over $ 800 to have a dealer repair , I decided on an aftermarket frame and harness for a aftermarket Pioneer CD/Radio Bluetooth phone ready system.

I took one morning and rewired the harness and added the frame into the large bottom section below the Honda Radio.I had to have the dashboard taken apart to reach behind the existing Honda system to wire in the new Radio.

The new Pioneer system works great and I love the hands free speaker phone system in the car.

Still driving my Honda almost 2 years later.

I have the love of my life in a car, my Honda but i am very upset because my 6 cd changer radio went kaput. A new one will cost me $500.00 and better, so now i am riding around in silence. Leaving work at 4:30 pm in the height of traffic with absolute no sounds at all. I am trying to save my pennies to get a new one because I do not know how much of talking to myself I will be able to deal with anymore. Honda I know you know this is a problem so please help us out we support you by buying your vehicles the least you can do is assist up with changing the radio.

Accord LX 2-4L

  • Automatic transmission

Radio started making a loud crackling noise through speakers intermittently and radio would shut off then come back on. Sometimes when you turn it on nothing happens and then after about 5 minutes would come on by itself. Now it wont come on at all so I have no radio at all. It is definitely a short in radio. Local HONDA dealer says there are no recalls or service bulletins for this problem. Why do I not believe them. They quoted approx. $800 to replace radio. They have to know there is a overall problem with their radios, as every where you read people complain about there HONDA radios . I went to the HONDA customer service site and you CAN NOT even send them an E-mail . You have to call them or send a letter through regular mail. Are you serious, In this day and age you can not send an E-mail to HONDA. I am very disappointed with the results so far. I own 3 Hondas currently ( 2009 CRV, 2006 Accord and 2006 Civic) because of their reliability but I am not HAPPY right now.
