Accord EX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 132,000 miles

I'm now on my 3 set of front brake pads in one year and also replaced the rear once, one set lasted 3000 miles and the other 9000. Not mentioning the horrible Vibration while braking. I've just resurfaced the rotors and put new set on. And I'm now waiting for what's coming...

Accord SE

  • Manual transmission
  • 78,000 miles

Both rear and front had been resurfaced and pads replaced twice, before the rotors were reported too thin to resurface. Appears to me the underlying issue is poor material choice by Honda - steel with inadequate CTE and high thermal stress buildup causing rapid pad and rotor wear. This has been a problem with all three Accords I have owned, and this last one is worst! Truly disappointing. I am not sure my next car will be a Honda.

Accord LX 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 64,500 miles

First failure at 41,000 miles, now after 25,000 miles the same thing happened. But this time the right pad only was worn down to nothing. A friend looked at it before I took it to the dealership. He said the caliper was stuck and would probably need replacing. He's not a mechanic but he is knowledgeable. The dealership never mentioned anything other than the pads need replacing. It was "normal" for the pads to wear out at "20-30k miles".

I learned from a coworker that his 2008 Accord had a recall on the rear brakes. Seems it should include 2006 Accords too.

Accord EX 2.5L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,572 miles

This is the same problem I had before and is continuing. The brake pad warning steel piece was rubbing the disk when the brakes were pushed on the right rear. Same wheel as before. I pulled the wheel and inspected the pads as before and found the same pad as before had completely worn down. As before all the other three had almost no wear. I have not used the parking brake much else left it on and here the same pad is worn. I didn't replace all the pads this time, just the one that was worn out. How can just one one pad wear like that? The caliper has only one cylinder so it can't be one of them freezing up. Also this has done it since new so it must be an original defect. It is May 2011 now and the noise is there again. I am sure I am going to find the same thing wrong. Can someone please help with at least a fix?

Accord EX 2.5L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,687 miles

I checked the brakes at 24,000 mile interval found one pad on right rear totally worn out and the other three fine with lots of pad left. Took to dealer (Norris) in Titusville, FL where I bought it and was accused of leaving parking brake on. Never use parking brake and parking brake would wear all four rear pads pretty evenly, not totally wear out just one pad. His estimate was $168 to replace pads. I replaced them myself with pads from Honda. I noticed through this that the right rear wheel was dirty with pad dust and other wheels were not.

I didn't think too much about it, but others said the brake pads should not need to replaced that soon.
