Accord LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

Same problem, stutters between 30 and 40 especially up minor grades. Haven't gone to Honda yet and have set up an appointment with a well respected tranny guy. This car has been well maintained and they certainly weren't

giving them away. With what I have read, it appears more hopeless than hopeful here.

It appears as though Honda has caught USA-itis, that is, do it cheap and push it out the door. We were just about

to replace this vehicle with another Honda. Not gonna happen now.

Honda will find that customer loyalty will go the same way as their corporate integrity...down the proverbial toilet.

F- you, Honda. There are plenty of choices out there

Accord EX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

Vehicle started to shudder when moderately accelerating with rpm's between 1000 & 2000. Honda settled a class action lawsuit for the same problem on older models but mine was not included. Regular warranty had expired but still had power train. Had a hard time getting one dealership to fix but was able to get another dealer to repair. That dealership also noted hard shifting which since I'd only ever driven a standard transmission I didnt realize it was a problem.

Accord EX 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I bought my 2006 Accord V6 auto not quite 4 years ago as a 2 year old, off lease beautiful, gently used model with 38,000 miles. Around 85,000 miles I noted the transmission started to shift abruptly/hard. I had a transmission fluid service completed and this seemed to solve the problem. The abrupt shifts started again around 128,000 miles. Now at 130,000 miles, the transmission completely failed. After a 65 mile trip, the car would not get out of first gear. After a 5 minute rest, the car would not even go into Reverse or Drive. When the tow truck arrived 45 minutes later, the car did manage to go into REVERSE and DRIVE to get the car aligned with the flat bed.

The result from an independent Honda Specialiast: $3932.74 to replace the transmission. A call to Stevenson Honda, who did not look at the car, qouged $4200 for a "remanufactured" transmission. Not sure how Honda could continue to build this transmission and install in their top of the line model after knowing there were problems as early as 2003, in this specific model. I'm not quite sure what my plan of action is after calling Honda 800-999-1009 to complain. I don't have $4000 laying around.

Accord SE 2.2L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My 2006 Honda Accord had about 70,000 miles on it when I first began to notice a slight vibration or shutter between 30-40 mph. At first, I thought the tires were out-of-balance, and so had the tires rebalanced. I actually had this done twice, as the first re balancing didn't solve the problem. Though I began to suspect a possible transmission problem, I couldn't believe an Accord with only 70,000+ miles would already develop such an issue. Sometime later, I decided to have the transmission checked-out at a local transmission specialist. They added a special solution to see if it would correct the problem, as they had seen this trouble in many other Hondas (including Accords), and said it was likely the torque converter was beginning to slip. The problem appeared to go away for the next few months, only occasionally reoccurring. But I finally got fed up, and returned to the transmission specialist. They opened up my transmission and determined that not only did the converter need to be replaced, but the entire assembly needed service. Total costs was $2100. Ironically, just before I had this work performed, my local Honda dealership service manager openly admitted that certain Hondas have had a series of converter problems (mostly Odyssey models, but sometimes Accords). But they were going to charge $2000 JUST to replace the converter...it would have been double that for the entire transmission, which is why I resorted to the transmission specialist. As Hondas are supposed to be among the best built cars in America, I am rather upset over this experience (especially if Honda, as stated by my local dealer, knows full well there are auto transmission problems in several model years).

Accord EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

Bought my Honda certified Accord with 72,000 miles. Just after the 100K mile warranty was over, I asked the dealer about the shuttering problem because I was concerned about the tranny (since I already replaced one in my older Accord!). I was told it could be a variety of things, spark plugs, filters, etc. Not that I have replaced the spark plugs and filters and am sick of this annoying issue, I go back to Honda for an official diagnosis. Needs a new transmission. Go figure. I bought a 2005 Accord for my son and the 2006 for myself and am now regretting it. Supposedly the transmission issue was fixed after the early 2000's, but it looks like all Honda did was fix it enough to get it out of warranty and out of their pocket. I called Honda and was told there is not a campaign at this time on this vehicle and that the mileage is too high anyway. It wouldn't have been too high if they would have taken the problem seriously last year! I'm so disgusted that I am again replacing a Honda transmission (first on my 1992). I should have learned my lesson the first time. It would be different if they would stand up and honor the problem. I could respect a company that did that, regardless of the problem.

Accord EX-L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

Being forced to replace the transmission on a vehicle with only 68K miles is unheard of. I've had a manual Honda that lasted over 200K miles and another Accord with auto transmission that finally gave out over 100K miles. Hopefully my next car won't have issues this early.

Accord EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,300 miles

Definitely annoying! Worst auto trans feel of any car or truck that I've ever owned. I'm taking it back to the dealer I just bought it from and demanding they fix it. It came with a 30 day 1200 mile warranty. So I better get something out of them. I won"t name them yet. Not until they deny my claim. Can't believe that a Honda is pulling this crap at such low miles for this breed!

Accord EX-L 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 92,000 miles

I have owned Accords all my life. In fact, I traded in a 94 Accord with almost 200K miles and ask me what problems did it have? NONE. Now my 2006 V6 EX-L needs to have the tranny rebuilt. I called the dearlership to get warranty information and they couldn't believe what I was telling them about my car. My car had for the past couple months started to have this HUGE vibration when driving slow to medium speeds. It was that the clutch was trying to grab the gear but was spinning inside which caused the shuttering and vibration. However, that vibration did not occur when I floored it. And was told that when i gave it more speed there was more pressure on the clutch, but in time it was going to be point that it just would not shift into gears any more.

Not only that but it had a very very tiny leak of fluid as well. I took my car to a real good friend of mine to get fixed. I got the Tranny guy to explain to me what had happened and he said that Honda has recently start putting cheap parts in the tranny that during the wear and tear process, things wear off quicker inside them. He showed me the clutch and you can pick it off with your finger nails and the chunks come off. How cheap!!!! My Honda has about 92K and change, and I can tell you that all of my Honda's I have put serious miles on them, and I have never ever had problems. This is the first time I have ever had the Transmission rebuilt on any Honda I've owned. Not Good At ALL.......
