went in for 90K service found transmission fluid leaked into the radiator. Found leaking from pepcock (sp) I had to have my radiator, coolant lines, coil and transmission seals replaced. There was a class action suit for this same problem and settlement in 2006, TSB 98-061 dated March 14, 2006 to have this problem corrected for 2000-01 Hondas. Evidently they have not fixed this problem. I got the brush off from the dealer and said there was nothing they would or could do for me other than fix my problem. I will say at this time the actual transmission as to knowledge was not compromised. I will say the brush off I received from the Honda Dealership and Honda Corporate that this is the last Honda for me. I love the car but not the care after you have it. I just don't understand w hy if they new the problem back in 2000 and it is still happening in 2006 they won't acknowledge my problem and fix it.

This is the second accord we have had to get a new transmission. The first car only had 60,000 and after a lot of griping Honda paid for it. Fools that we are, we bought another one. At about 100,000 miles the transmission fluid started leaking. We called Honda and talked to a young lady there for over a week to find out they would pay nothing. Now I have read up on how this is a fairly common problem. Also we had a recall that we had fixed when we had the leak checked out and it had to do with the transmission. We have had Nissans and Toyotas with over 200,000 and no major repair. What fools we are, never a Honda again.

I took my car in October 2010 with 80k miles. They said I had an axle leak on the left side, although nothing was leaking at the time. Charged me 200.00 to fix and said I may have a torn bushing that caused the leak. In March 2011 it started leaking again, I took it to a Honda dealer and I could not afford the repairs, so I had both seals replaced by another shop. 2 weeks ago I noticed a leak again, I took it to a transmission shop and they said the differential is moving around in the casing and it is an internal problem with the transmission, since I have never had it re-built. I took it to Honda today with 100k miles and it is going to be 4100 to fix. When I read the forums now other Honda owners are complaining of the same issue. This seems wrong, as I showed signs 5 k outside my warranty. Currently the dealer is looking into a good faith repair- I hope honda does the right thing. I purchased the vehicle due to the reputation and because of my 40 mile commute to work, and now i have a 425 payment and 4100 in repairs. My dad has a 1991 Toyota with 150k miles and never has had a transmission problem. This is my second Honda and both have had issues. I feel ripped off.

2006 Accord 4 Cylinder Tranny Replaced !

2006 Honda Accord EX-L 4 Cylinder Automatic 4 door 23,500 miles

Purchased this car brand new September 2005 Lynnwood Honda Washington State.

Have owned many Honda�s over the years, Civic, Accord, and Odyssey. This Honda has the worst transmission behavior of any car I have ever driven.

Problems while Driving:

Transmission holds back and feels like it does not want to relax into final gear (overdrive).

When going at any speed particular down grades with no brakes the engine is almost compression breaking instead of just coasting. If I slip it into Neutral and back into drive then it coasts fine and the rpm�s drop and energy is not wasted. This happens on the freeway too.

Around July 2007 I was told by Pennzoil that my Transmission was leaking from somewhere. I immediately brought in to the dealership for service. I was told that the Transmission was indeed leaking from somewhere but they did not know where after running it up on a rack etc. I was told my transmission fluid was extremely low. I was told to �just keep and eye on it�.

I went in for another Oil Change at Pennzoil and was told again that the Transmission was leaking and the fluid was very low. The mechanic indicated that he could see Trany oil leaking from where the cable connects to the transmission. I went home and added more Honda ATF fluid again.

March 7th 2008 I had just returned from a trip to the airport and the transmission was causing me grief and my passenger noted the problem as well. I checked the fluid level while parked in the garage on level ground after a few minutes and it was bone dry. I immediately called Lynnwood Honda service and got an appointment.

I had to add more Honda ATF fluid just to bring the level up high enough to show something on the dipstick before driving the car back to the dealership. I have never found any tranny oil on my garage floor so it must be burning up or dripping out when driving only.

Brought the car in today to dealership and provided them 6 pages of documentation by me regarding the above. They called me back 4 hours later and said that the Transmission was in fact leaking somewhere and the dipstick was dry. They said that a Honda Factory Rep was briefed about my problem and they were advised to put a brand new transmission in and they wanted the bad one for an autopsy.

I have a free rental car and renewed hope that my Honda Accord will be actually fixed and the problem solved. I will keep you guys posted and hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
