I don't exactly remember when we started to notice this paint chipping off issue on this 2007 Honda Accord. Probably a couple years ago, we noticed that some paint started to chip off at the edge of hood cover and main body. It was minor and we did not pay too much attention. The problem developed into obvious larger area paint chip off. You can see the metal substrate after the paint is off. It looks like either the primer was not working well or the paint is not flexible to adhere to the substrate. Please see the pictures of the area. We are in So-Cal so the weather should be perfect to keep the body paint in a good condition.We have not fix this issue yet. It may cost us some big money to go to body shop. Otherwise, this car has been in excellent condition without any other issues.

My complaint is with my 2007 Honda Accord. The paint is peeling away from the columns on the car, alongside the edge by the front windows. It is also happening in the back and areas on the roof. It is truly embarrassing to own a Honda that is showing such a poor paint job, especially since it is not from something I did. Rather than what I purchased. I also owned a 2000 Honda Accord LX that never had paint issues. Needless to say, I rather wish I had kept that car instead of this one. The trade-in value for this car has decreased because of these paint issues. At this point, I'm looking to trade in the car before it gets too bad. However, my next purchase will NOT be a Honda, which is a shame, because that's all I've owned since the late 90's. But quality control issues have forced me to look elsewhere for a better vehicle that cares about retaining their customers and admitting that they have issues with their paint. There have been too many complaints regarding the same issue for it to be isolated.

Exactly one year later another issue with paint peeling off of my 2007 Honda. First issue was peeling between the roof and back window. July 2012, paint peeling on back left side panel next to back window. Showing signs of deterioration on right side panel next to back window and rt and lft front panels next to front window. Contacted Honda, advised to take it into the dealership. Dealership advised get two quotes, took pictures, local district rep will review. Repair quotes estimate $1900 to repair. Honda has advised today they will pay $500.00 I am extremely disappointed that I am looking at having $1700 in paint repair cost within a year on a 5 year old car. I don't care that it is out of the 3 year warranty. Paint should not be peeling off of a car this age. I have 4 Honda's, purchased for Honda's reputation. Did not expect this type of service and quality. The body shop categorized this issue as delamination. Delamination is when paint has an adhesion problem, it is commonly prepped incorrectly or no prepared for painting at all. I was advised that this car should basically be stripped and completely repainted to prevent the problem from occurring again and again. This will be $5K if I do this. I think this is a defect in Honda Workmanship. I am extremely dissatisfied with Honda's offer.

Paint peeling first occurrence when car was 4 years old. Paint began peeling between roof and and back window. Called Honda referred me to a dealership where I had to go and get 3 quotes for paint repainting the roof. Quotes came in $800-$900. Honda paid $500.00. Would not cover in full since the paint is only covered for 3 years under the manufacturer warranty. Made it clear to me that they did not have to do anything. I was disappointed that I had out of pocket expenses on a 4 year old Honda for peeling paint. Car has always been garage kept and well taken care of. I had the repair work done in Jul 2011.

the hood on my 2007 Accord started rusting from under the paint. The dealer said it was because of a chip UNDER THE HOOD. Regardless, they offered to paint it after conferring with the Honda rep, and I agreed. Here it is a year later, and the rusting IS BACK. I went to a local body shop this time for their advice, and was told that the rust is due to poor rustproofing when the car was manufactured. Water is collecting at a seam where the hood sheet metal comes together, and the rust is developing all along this line, also transferring to the lip of the hood. He said that it can be repainted, but no guaranty that the rust won't come back. So much for Honda quality.

A few weeks ago I noticed I had a 1-inch strip of rust on the corner of the hood of my 8-month old Honda Accord while I was washing it. I also noticed a few other splotches of rust running along the hood above the chrome Honda logo/grill on the front of the car. Took it to the dealership where they promptly told me "Of course you have rust - the front of your car has been repainted." Went on to show me where paint was also flaking off the bumper along the grill/headlights. My car is white and the plastic underneath is black, by the way. Looking along the seam of the bumper-to-metal you can SEE where a line of paint is now starting to peel off. They also let me know that ALL the clips, screws and/or bolts meant to hold the bumper onto the car were missing from the front wheel-wells AND under the hood.

This car has been in my possession every single day since I bought it last September 2007. No one besides my husband and I has ever driven it and it has never had a door ding much less been in an accident where parts were removed/replaced or repainted.

I called the dealership I bought the car at (Grainger Honda in Savannah, GA) and they searched their database to find that they have no record of any damage on their lot or at the port. They said they'd dig a little more and also notify Honda and file some sort of claim or something... Haven't heard back so I left a message for the General Manager there today to get some feedback on where to go next.

I asked the service technician at the local Honda dealership who spotted the problem and they said that if Honda comes through with some sort of explanation, they'll probably only offer to repaint it. I DON'T WANT IT REPAINTED! I want a NEW 2007 Honda Accord. It's ridiculous - it's RUSTING!!! It'll never be the same quality, either - as a factory paint job is SUPPOSED to be. Once rust starts it's never truly gone so the car I was hoping to have for years and years after I pay it off is a piece of crap which will always show that had body work done if it is resolved in such a way.

I notified my insurance company and they are sending a rep out to document. I'm hoping they'll fight this fight for me but I am prepared to hire an attorney if I don't hear something back from Honda within the week.
