Brought my 2008 honda accord to the dealership numerous times to look at the ac issue. On my third time, the assistant service mgr said chip stones broke the condenser causing a leak. I brought my car to a friend's shop to check it out. There were no trace of UV dye of the leak (UV dye is used to trace where the leak is coming from). Found it strange and brought it a smaller dealership that would be more than happy to do warranty work. It turns out there were issues with the AC line and something else.

Car is less than 2 yrs old & dealer states punctured a/c condenser was caused by "road debris". Car still under factory warranty but no claim allowed. Condenser should not be exposed as designed which makes it prone to damage.

There was an 88 degree day in April. I turned on the A/C and hot air was blowing out. I took the car to the dealership and was told that a rock hit my condenser and it would cost $895.00 to repair. Honda will not agree that this is a design flaw and they tell you to have your insurance pay for it, with a $500.00 deductible- that is still very costly especially when you can go out the next day and it could happen again. I chose not to have it fixed. I hope I can make it thru the summer isn't it a shame a 2008 with no air. I am contemplating trading it in. This was my first Honda. I went to Honda for the reputation of dependability. I am deeply disappointed. I too plan on contacting the Attorney General's office I hope they can lead me to an attorney to file a class action suit against them. It is sounding like I have a lot of company.

I have a 2007 Honda CRV when the air conditioner stopped working last year. The CRV had 22,000 miles on it. The Honda dealer could not find a hole, so they recharged the unit under warranty. Well guess what, my 2008 Accord air conditioner stopped working. The mileage on the car is 23,000. The dealer is saying road debris and they want $800.00 to fix. American Honda has an issue which they are failing to acknowledge. What do you think the odds are for the same Honda owner to had two vehicles with the same issue? Strange is it!

It was a 90 degree day & I went to use my ac & to my surprise nothing but hot air was coming out of my vents. So I brought my car to the dealer & was told that I had a leak in a hose, which they fixed under my warranty. I picked my car up & the ac worked & the next time I used my ac nothing but a warm arm was coming from the vents again. I brought my car back to the dealer & was told that in less than 2-weeks time that some sort of road debris had cased a hole in my condenser unit & that it wasn't covered under my warranty. To make matters worse I was informed that it would cost $865 to fix the problem.

Woke up one morning my a/c did not work in my accord. I took it to the honda dealership. They told me that a rock or some type of object put a hole in my condenser and that the warranty would NOT cover it. I was fire mad!!! Who should I contact regarding this. I spent too much $ on this car to have these type of problems already.

As I look at other complaints that go back to the 03s, Honda has clearly ignored this as a design flaw and nothing has changed for the 2008 model. When I drove my brand new car home without A/C Tuesday, in 90 degree heat, I was shocked when the dealer told me road debris had made a hole in the condenser and it's not covered under the warranty!!!!!! They agreed to pay half the cost, but it's still going to cost me $300+. Looks like it's time to petition Honda and the Attorney General's office for some resolution.

Well, this is probably my last Honda. Condenser was hit by a 2 1/2 inches that enter in front bumper openings. The open at the bottom of the front bumper are so wide that you may even lost your Chiwawa... Even my cheap Toyota Yaris has a protection grill. Called the the poor guy at the Honda dealer, he was very embarrassed and told me this was the 3rd time for a 2008 model so far that they had to replace this part which is not covered by warenty... Honda Canada doesn't want to recognize a design flaw in the front bumper.

Our air conditioner quit without any notice! We got into our car on Sunday and no cool air!!! I called the dealership and the lady in the service department was really nice and told me that it could be a faulty part OR a rock could have punctured a hole in the condenser and if that was the case, then this is considered a road hazard and therefore, not covered under warranty. What????? We just bought the car about 5 weeks ago and we have about 5,000 miles on the car (yes, we average a 1,000 miles/week). I haven't even made the first payment on the car yet!!!!! Now you're telling me that I will have to fork out in the neighborhood of $750 to get the a/c fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something is wrong here.

I then called a dealership closer to our work and told him the problem and he suggested I call Honda's customer service.

I called them and now I'm waiting my 24-48 hours to hear back from them on their decision. I also think that Honda has a problem. What are these condensers made of? They need to be recalled and have this problem resolved. There is absolutely no sense in this. I did a lot of research on the different cars and it kept coming up with the Honda Accord to fit our needs. I'm beginning to wonder now.

I will try to update as the rest of the story evolves. Look out Honda - you haven't heard the last of me yet!!!!!

We are very disappointed in Honda. The reason we bought this car is because of Honda's reputation but now, only having the car for not even 3 months we are experiencing problems with the AC/compressor. The mechanic at Honda says it is a rock that hit the compressor and caused some kind of leaking, therefore AC doesn't work. The dealership is not covering it and our AC doesn't work. We are escalating this problem to Honda customer service. If this problem is not resolved, we will NOT purchase another Honda again!

Accord ES V4

I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord in March of this year (2008) and have approximately 5000 miles on it. The AC not only quit cooling but felt like the heater was on high! The dealership tells me that it is not a warranty item - that a rock must have been thrown from the highway (road hazard) and put a hole in the ac condenser! Needless to say, I have to question that driving a car for only two months and a rock has already put a hole in the ac condenser makes me wonder just what the condenser is made from? Not to mention that on the very day (May 28) that the dealership calls for me to come to there service center to show me the hole in the condenser - there are two more Honda's in the shop for the exact same problem! One of the cars ac condenser had three holes in it! My question is concerning whether or not the 2008 Accords' condenser needs to be RECALLED AND REPLACED with condensers made from a more durable material!! Although my insurance is paying for the repairs (less deductible), I am on a crusade to find out how many owners of the 2008 Accords have already had this problem! I understand that the 2008 Accord is a new design and perhaps the condenser is a "new" design also? Again, I find it strange that 3 other Accords were in the shop on the same day for the same problem - a problem which I think would be somewhat rare?!?
