problem #1

Accord EXL V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 5,000 miles

The navigational system locks up intermittently, leaving no display of the navigational system, radio, CD player, etc. When I start the car, the display shows the usual "splash" Navigational System display, then goes to the safety warning screen. When I acknowledge the warning, the display will hang, displaying a variety of useless strange displays, then either go blank or start rolling like an old TV set with a bad tube. Once I shut off the ignition and restart the car, the problem clears, but then I get intermittent horizontal lines in the display that annoy and distract me while I'm driving.

The dealer is mystified, and is going to Honda to determine what to do. I just turn the silly display off most of the time now, but it irritates me I paid extra for this thing that doesn't work correctly. The dealer tells me they'll probably have to pull the entire dash off to fix whatever the problem is, and I can only imagine the damage that will do, and the new problems that it will introduce. I really wish I would have saved the money and just got a TomTom.
