Same as previous two posters. This started to occur out of nowhere. I have noticed that once or twice, it is so severe that all my indicator lights will come on. Check engine was stuck on for two days, then gone. Not sure but it seems to be affected by the cold. It almost seems less severe when the outside temp is in the 20s or below. This site is the first place I have seen anything like it reported. Haven't taken it to a mechanic yet because I wanted some more information first. Overall, I'm pleased with the car. But the myriad little issues can be real ball busters.

Radio started periodically cutting out where entire screen goes blank for 2-3 seconds but always comes back to the preset radio station. I also notice that when the lights are on. They dim a bit while the radio is out for 2-3 seconds so the radio cutting out is linked to other issues. Could be the alternator cutting out while the radio is stopped but this is not confirmed.

I also can feel when the radio cuts out without looking at the radio because there is a cracking noise that can be heard and also a slight hesitation that can be felt in the car. Its like there is a sudden loss of power for that brief period and then when the radio comes back on, it is fine. This has started happening more frequently in the last couple of days where it only happened every 3-4 hours and now its happening every 5-6 minutes.

There has been a lot of searches done on this radio cutting out event and it seems Honda might have put out a bulletin on this exact issue.

Are they ever going to submit a recall for this issue or does it have to be something that imposes an injury or becomes dangerous to drive the car?

XM goes in and out, only way I have found to stop it is to shut the engine off and start it back up. At my next visit for my oil consumption test I'll have to ask the service manager about this issue also, I wasn't aware there was a fix. I've never had so many issues with 1 car!!!!!

XM radio fades in and out. Hondas' standard response, SOL. They're working on a replacement receiver, and will contact me when it's available. Meanwhile, when the radio acts up, I should shut off the engine and restart it. That resets the radio. Works, but not a solution. I should have bought a Chrysler!

The XM radio loses audio. AM FM and CD all still work but when you switch to XM there is no sound while all the controls and indicators work. Honda is having new XM receivers built for them and they will replace it. Get to your dealer before your warranty is up.

Update from Nov 4, 2010: Finally after waiting 2 years to get the XM radio fixed, Honda has issued a service bulletin # 10-024. Unfortunately, Honda never wants to resolve their issues the right way. 2 years ago I drove my vehicle to the dealer and had them document the XM problem while still under warranty. Then I documented the problem with Honda of America, got case # and all that. For 2 years I kept checking with Honda and dealers to see if they had a fix. Finally, I told Honda customer service that I will be contacting the BBB and Class Action Lawyers to get this fixed. 2 days later a service bulletin was available.

The dealer ordered the part and when I brought the car in, they told me they were “willing to pay 50% of the repair” since my car was now out of warranty. I became “unglued”. I told them to contact customer service of Honda America because they stated there would be no charge. Don’t take any of the nonsense that Honda loves to deal out.
