My paint/clear coat started bubbling up. It has progressively gotten worse. I have reported it to the Honda dealership where I purchased the vehicle. They said it was a recall/known issue with the Civics but nothing on the Accords.

So you buy the metallic paint in the highest trim of the car, surely you won't have issues such as cheap paint that makes your car look like a clunker in a few years...wrong! The paint cancer now greatly affects the roof, trunk, and to a lesser extent the rest of the car. How come most brands have no issues with 10 year old paints and a supposedly reliable car needs an extra grand to make it look presentable?

I have garage kept my Honda Accord since I have had it and religiously keep it clean and waxed. The paint is peeling off inside the window well for the back windshield. It is not peeling off down into the quarter panels. Very disappointed in quality of the Honda paint work.

I am so frustrated! I bought a Honda thinking that I was getting a car that would last. As it turns out, the motor might work that long, but the body is sure to rust out and fall apart at the rate that the white paint is chipping off! I am seeing a steak sized spot on the roof of my vehicle where there is ZERO paint left and it's down to the silver metal. All around the windows, hood, and door the paint is cracking and falling off.
I brought it to the dealer Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA and was met with attitude and had to jump through hoops to get it assessed by the dealership's auto body section. There they put it under a bunch of tests and agreed that the paint wasn't holding up taking photos to document the mess. They told me that it was unusual for a white paint job to do so poorly and that it usually happens to the blue cars. They took the data, and gave it to the service manager Gary Pio, who then did not get back to me...I had to chase him down weeks later.
He stated that the dealership would only pay half of the cost of repainting it and would not pay for one corner of the car which had been hit by a deer and repaired. (Great my car will now be two-toned.) He suggested I call American Honda Motor Co. which I finally did today. I was told by a very polite and mechanical customer service rep. that there was nothing that could be done as there had been no recall on paint jobs on the car.
I told her that I WOULD NEVER BUY A HONDA CAR AGAIN! And that I would post it everywhere for all to see that Honda doesn't repair it's defected manufacturing practices. So I announced it on Facebook and now here....I'm just beginning. I've got two more stops tonight and more to come Honda. You haven't heard the last from me. When I signed up for a Honda vehicle I bought the top of the line...and got a Walmart paint job. Bait and switch. Fortunately there are better quality choices out there and I am up for a new car now. Subaru here I come!!!!!!!!

The paint is beginning to fail on the side door and the hood. Honda should stand behind their product and make the repair, repaint the car correctly. The clear coat and paint simply should not fail in this manner.

The clear coat stared to peel on my 2008 Honda Accord.The problem started this Spring 2015. There are big spots on the hood of my car where the clear coat has come off. I notified American Honda of the problem and was told that the paint warranty was good for only 3 years 36,000 miles. My Accord has over 120,000 miles. I have never owned a car with this kind of problem. Right now I own a 2002 Lexus Rx300 with over 200,000 miles and the paint is still perfect.

Well, I purchased my Honda Accord fairly used in December 2008. I was most pleased with my car. It was garage kept until 2011. Towards the end of that year, in October. My car was vandalized on the driver side. Window smashed in. Paint and everything was horrible from the crow bar they used. I got my drivers side totally repainted minus the front, back, and passenger side. The following year around Feb 2012 my car started to show major clear coat issues on the front bumper. Then it soon looked the same on my passenger side doors and to the back side of the car as well. I feel like its an eye sore! I have a fairly new car and now it looks like a raggedy bucket! One side freshly painted while the other looks like sand paper was rubbed on it!!!!!!!!!

The clear coat is peeling off the front bumper and door handles. This is NOT the result of any PRIOR work being done to this vehicle.
Have not approached the dealer yet, that's next. If I get the line of BS that I have been reading this will be the LAST Honda I ever own.

I own 2008 Honda Accord LX and the paint on my trunk started to peel since 2013. It looks horrible. I went to Honda dealership and was told that warranty was expired. They gave me local auto body shop and I got an estimation of repainting the trunk, which is around $2,000. This is so frustrating. I don't know why Honda doesn't want to fix the problem and admit that some of Honda cars have paint peeling issues. I will never buy Honda again.

I see this in a lot of Honda Vehilces and it make the cars look worn out when they are not. The rest of the car is nice and the hood is peeling and it's not due to wear and tear and not due to the washing with harsh chemicals, this car has been taken care of.

METALLIC GREY PAINT FIRST STARTED TO PEEL ON TRUNK NEXT TO REAR WINDOW, THEN PAINT ON THE HOOD BEGAN TO SHOW DISCOLORED SPOTS WHICH EVENTUALLY STARTED TO PEEL AND BECOME LARGER. THERE IS NO TELLING WHERE THE PAINT DAMAGE WILL STOP. PAINT SHOULD BE STRIPPED DOWN TO THE PRIMER THEN PAINTED AND RESEALED PROPERLY.
