Accord EX 3.2L

This is the second time I've had to replace my rear brakes on my 2008 accord. This first time was at 24,000 miles. Rotors also had to be resurfaced. Very inconvienent. This is my second accord and I never had this problem with the first one. Honda will only re-emburse $150 worth of repairs which is only half of what it will cost out of pocket. What a rip off. I am considering trading in my car for a Nissan. Very disappointed with Honda.

I also have a 2008 Honda Accord with brake problems. At 24,900 miles, I noticed some scraping sounds. Since I needed to have the leather seat cover replaced (it was wearing through), I decided to have the dealer look at the brakes. They were metal-to-metal sounds since the pads were completely gone. Unfortunately, everything was ruined and I needed all new back brakes at $500!!! How can that be?

I know that I will get a rebate for $150 but that doesn't touch the full cost or the loss of confidence I now have in Honda cars. I'm wondering if there's a way to make all these complaints more public to put pressure on the company to fully cover the new brakes.

After replacing rear pads and rotors at 20,000 miles, at my expense of course, it happened again. I was out of town and at about 10:00 PM on a Saturday night I started hearing noise coming from the rear brakes. I thought great, I have to get this fixed on a Sunday before I make the 850 miles driver back home. Luckily I had family in the area who knew someone who could do the work for me. We found the pads at the only parts store open in town. The ceramic pads cost a little over $50.00 and the guy charged me $40.00 labor.I actually got to see the pads this time. The inner was worn to the metal. The outer had 50% left. This is apparently a bigger problem than bad pads. There is an problem with the calipers possibly. They are not applying even pressure. Honda neesd to get it together.

After only 20,00 miles the rear pads were worn to the point the dealer had to replace the rotors. I thought it odd at 20,000 miles but I was told by the dealer that it was not under warrenty because it was moving parts. I told them I didn't want the same pads because I didn't want to do this again in another 20,00 miles. I was told that it was the only pad that was out for the car. Stay tuned for part two.

Well I have the same problem with the brakes. Instead of gripping about it this is what I found out. Honda will not pay for the service since the court date and now the only way to get the money back is to submit the form and get $150. From the way I read it you can do it more then one time. I am still looking into leagal outcome if you do not take the $150 and go after Honda. Hope this helps!!!!

Accord EX-L V6

I bought the car used from Carmax with it having only 36,000 miles on it. Im not sure how thorough the inspection was prior to the sale of the vehicle was, but nevertheless, to need new brakes (esp on a Honda) at 37,000 miles is unacceptable. I persuaded the service department at Carmax to replace the brakes because I thought it was apparent that they acted negligently when conducting the 125 point inspection. When I found this site, it is blatantly obvious that some sort of recall needs to be initiated on this model.

We all know that 2008 Accord brakes are crap by now but just had to add my own gripe. Brakes starting squealing at 3,000 miles and didn't stop until I had the pads replaced 2 years later. Took it in several times but dealer always managed to temporarily fix the problem. Usually a week later they were squealing again. I got tired of going to the dealer and finally just put up with it. At 29,500 miles rear pads were almost metal to metal. Glad I took a look while rotating the tires. Hondas are still reliable vehicles but I'm not impressed anymore. I put 65,000 miles on my Ford with no issues before I had to replace the brake pads.

Brought my car in to my mechanic for an oil change and asked that he check the brakes because when I back out of the driveway I have been hearing a noise. Was told my rear brakes were worn down to metal. I do all long distance driving. I had a Camry and had 90,000 miles on it and did not have to have the brakes replaced ever! There should be a recall on this.

I bought my 2008 honda accord in july 2008. I took my car for oil change and i was told i have to replace the rear brake pads. i asked them " how could this be. i bought the car a year and half ago". Like everybody else i was told it has 30+ millage. I am a rackless driver. I took it to pepboys and had it replaced. After 2 month i heard this grinding noise and took it to the dealer. I was told take it back to where they fixed it. They didn't do a good job. I took it back to pepboys and had it replaced both the break pads and the roters because the roters were damaged. I called honda and asked them if there is a recall on the break pads and they said no it is"normal ware and tare'. Now thy sent me this letter of settlement which doesn't even reimburse the money that i paid which costed me 220+ and the funny thing is the car still vibrates when i press on the brakes and i know i need to replace the pads again. i hope hoda looses.I am so disappointed in them.

I HATE HONDA!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY HONDA!!!!

So many issues w/ my '08 Honda Accord EX. Only had the car for about a year, now currently have 11k on my car. Already I've had to replace the rear brakes, now the dealer told me my front brakes are bad and need replacing. What makes me even more furious is that Honda corp won't offer to do crap! I've called Honda customer service dozens of times, complained, spoke to supervisor....nothing. They keep telling me it's a "normal wear item" so it's not covered under warranty. BS!!!!!! "Normal wear"??????

I replaced my rear brakes at 10k!!!! That's premature wear!!!! I'm determined to tarnish their name forever!!! Why can't they recall all these vehicles and fix the problems!!!???

Not a happy Honda customer at the moment!! This is my 2nd Honda, first Accord and I love my car. Well, until I went to Brake Check yesterday and found out I had two defective calipers on my rear brakes that cause the pads to wear prematurely, and the metal ate into the rotors until they had to be replaced. At a cost of $425 for rebuilt calipers, rotors, and pads. Then, to find out ONE DAY LATER, through a letter in the mail from some law firm that there is a recall for the rear brakes. I will get a whopping $125 of my dollars back for all of my trouble. Honda factory rear brakes have no brake wear indicators (the loud noise that MOST brakes make when they are ready to be changed), so if you hear grinding, you may be too late and need new rotors as well. Brake Check did hook me up with new rear brakes that DO have wear indicators.

Also have bad rear struts I found out... anyone else having that problem as well???

For the past week or so, I’d been hearing a metal scraping sound coming from the right rear wheel of my Accord. I thought there might be something stuck in the wheel, so yesterday I took my car to a local shop to have it checked. I was surprised to hear that the rear brake pads were shot. Honda brake pads shot after only 28,700 miles? This seemed very strange to me, so I told the local shop I would take it to the Honda dealer. When I got to my office I thought I’d do an internet search to see if anyone else was having brake problems with their Accords. I was shocked to find this website with over 800 complaints about Honda rear brakes.

I called Honda Customer Service to get some info from them. I was told that a class action is pending, that notices will be sent out next week, and a hearing has been scheduled for July 26th. If the class action settlement is approved, owners will be reimbursed for repairs. There is more info at the following website --www.girardgibbs.com/hondabrakes.asp

I took my car to the dealer to have it checked and the service lead showed me the inner pad was worn completely away. Since it was Friday afternoon and I need the car next week for a business trip, I decided to have the pads replaced. The replacement part is new brake kit with the part number ending in A70. Another respondent had mentioned this, so I wanted to be sure they were using the new part. This brake pad supposedly has some type of spring that is designed to keep the inner pad from rubbing on the rotor while driving, which is what cause the premature wear.

I am amazed that Honda would jeopardize their excellent reputation for quality over some faulty rear brakes on their Accord model. It just doesn’t make sense. I owned a Honda van for 8 years, and then decided to buy an Accord and a CRV. After this experience, I don’t know if I’ll ever buy another Honda.

it is such a big shame that my 2008 honda accord started to make a very strange kind of noise (high frequency and loud) from the right side of the wheel and I knew that was the brake sensor telling me that I need to replace at this early state. I am the kind of driver that tries not to press the brake unless I have to. I drive 95% on free way and my 2006 Acura RL has got 46000 miles on it and I was told the brake still has more than 80% left!

This honda accord brake premature wear problem cost me $200 today and it is not covered by warranty. I am sure that all 2008 accord owners purchased their cars with defective brakes and we should not give us our rights to be compensated.

If honda wants to do business in this country, then they can't get away with their responsibilites and simply telling us this is due to normal tear and wear. We are good drivers but absolutely not able tear and wear our brakes so quickly. What a stupid excuse. can't believe they are so shameless. The Japaneses has so little common sense and no honesty!

I was hearing a horrible sound coming from my tires it sounded like metal scraping on my tire rims. My front brakes were also squeaking. The Honda mechanic said they have had alot of complaints about the brakes with this model. They took a look at it and they told me that the Rear brakes needed to be replaced. And HONDA CORP were working on getting a new brake for the front to resolve the sqeaking noise. It cost me $230.00 to replace the REAR BRAKES. Again now just a couple of days ago the REAR BRAKES started to make the sam noise. GUESS what I had to replace the REAR BRAKES after only changing them 6 MONTHS ago. Another $150.00 this time.

I was advised that a new CLASS ACTION LAW passed for this model car for the brake issue. And I MIGHT be reimbursed up to $150.00 for premature brake. ALSO NOW my care is making a KNOCKING noise when it starts up. They are researching it and might be covered my my warranty. I over heard the mechanics that noise leads to ENGINE WARE. $(@$(@($( ughhh never again a HONDA.

I lease a 2008 Accord which I have serviced at the dealership as required. I received a letter in the mail from Honda stating that there was a problem with premature rear brake wear and I should have my vehicle inspected by the dealer. I took the car to the dealer for routine maintenance and asked to have the brakes inspected. The dealer informed me that the rear pads and rotors were worn out and required replacement. I assumed this was warranty but was told that because my car had not had a "B' type service I was responsible for the repair costs. I said that they had missed performing the "B" type service as I had returned the car there for service each and every time the service reminder came on. They said it had not been done and no warranty was applicable.

I was also informed that my tires were almost worn out and required replacement as well.

I have a 10 year old domestic SUV that went 128,000 Km on the original tires and is now at 193,000 km and the rear brakes have been done once!!

Honda just lost a customer.
