My Honda Accord sedan ex had rear brakes replaced at 25,744 miles. I started hearing a metal scrapping noise from the rear of my car when backing up. I brought my car into a Honda dealership and was told by the service advisor that my rear brake pads had to be replaced. He told me that the replacement would not be under warranty as this is normal wear & tear.he asked me if I "brake lightly" as this may have been one of the reasons which led to this problem. Believe me, I am a bit naive about cars, but I didn't think that I had the car long enough to have to have new bake pads installed, needless to say the rear versus the front. I found a web site carcomplaints.com on facebook www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/accourd/2008/brakes/premature_brak_wear.shtml which had 313 & counting complaints regarding the same issue. I am hopeful that Honda does the right thing and issues a recall to correct this problem (or at least supplement our repair bills. (avg $212). My fear is that a driver not address the scrapping noise they hear in a timely manner and have an accident due to the faulty brakes. Thank you.

I had a noise in the rear brakes of my 2008 Honda Accord, the car only has 17500 miles on it, I took it to the dealers service department they told me my car needed new rear brake pads. The rear pads didn't reach 60% of there recommended life, I fell this is a problem in the new Honda.

My 2008 Honda Accord sedan ex had rear brakes replaced at 14,921, the rear brakes started to produce a metal-to-metal sound without any other type of warning from the sensor. I didn't think the rear brake pads are worn completely so I took it to the nearest Honda dealership. The service advisor told me the rear brake pads are completely out at 14,921 miles. From my own personal experience and others friends/relatives, no front wheel drive car has rear brakes replaced within 15,000 miles. The service advisor was surprise to see the rear brakes worn out at 14,921 miles as well. In June 2009, my car reached approximately 29,000 miles and the same metal-to-metal noise came back and again, my rear brakes are completely worn out and needs replacement. I've gone through 2 sets or rear brake pads before reaching 30,000 miles.

I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord in 10/2007. I took my vehicle to the dealer today and found out that I needed to replace my brakes. My vehicle only has 16K miles on it. I inquired with the mechanic and he said this is normal wear and tear. I contacted Honda customer service via telephone and was informed that Honda was aware of an issue regarding "premature brake wear" on 2008 Accord and have since remedied the problem with their 2009 models. When I inquired as to what could be done about my situation I was informed there was no resolution that Honda could offer. I would need to pay for the brake replacements and if Honda did offer some sort of incentive in the future I would be notified since a case was open for me. I furthered my research and googled premature brake wear on 2008 Honda Accord and was taken to the following linkwww.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml I found more than 230 complaints from consumers with the same issue and the need to pay for the replacements out of pocket, some having replaced 2 and 3 times already. Is it to much for me to ask that Honda accept responsibility in this flaw and remedy the situation. If there is an issue with premature wear and it was addressed in the newer models, shouldn't something be done about the existing models which have this problem.

I would like to suggest that NHTSA investigate the braking system on the 2008 Honda Accord and other models with the same braking system. Brakes seem to be experiencing premature wear and rotors are becoming warped at 30,000 miles or much sooner. Hundreds of other 2008 Honda Accord owners have complained of the same problem on car related forums. I realize that brakes are typically a wear and tear thing, but the speed at which these brakes wear seems excessive.

Vehicle brakes wear extremely fast. 6 months into normal use, and the pads and rotors are of poor quality. New, and squealing after 1 month of use. Pressure on pedal must be used more as the breaks wear.

Premature rear brake wear on my 2008 Honda Accord LX. Only 11,000 miles. This is not normal. Paid $250 just to get brakes replaced. Reported problem to Honda and BBB but nothing has been done because they are saying that is normal wear and tear. However those brakes should at least last for another 20,000 miles before they need to be replaced. I found on the web many other consumers like me with the same problem. This is a very serious issue because if your brakes run out prematurely you might end up crashing and either dying or killing someone else, and as a result Honda is going to suffer greatly. Please address this situation.

Our 2008 Accord had 29,000 miles on it when the brakes began squealing. The Honda dealer checked it and said we needed new rear brake pads and the rotors needed turning. I called Honda America they, like the dealer, said it was a wear and tear item. I had an independent mechanic to replace the pads. He said the rotors did not need turning. My mechanic said he had never seen pads wear that quick. It must be a defect in the pads. Honda will not stand behind their product in this case. I am very disappointed.

Premature brake wear on 2008 Honda Accord. At about 13,500 miles, dealer said rear brake pads needed replacement. I protested and they said I could go until brakes were squeaking. Had to have them replaced today at 19,653. There are many similar complaint on line. I think needing to replace pads every 20K miles indicates a product that warrants a recall. I've had Honda and other cars in the past with no similar problem. Not do to being heavy on the brakes because, the dealer explained that hard braking makes use mainly of the front brakes.

I have 19000 miles on my car and the back brake needed replacing. The dealership replaced the back brakes and resurfaced the rotors due to premature brake wearing. According to carcomplaints.com there are many other 2008 Honda Accord that are having this same failure. I have a 2 year old and cannot and will not have her in danger to defective equipment on a brand new car.

I purchased my 2008 Honda Accord on last March. I was happy with the car, until recently, because I began to hear a squeaking noise from my rear brake system. I took my car to the dealership, and they said that it was the weather. They said the noise should go away when it warms up, and now we warming and I continue to hear the squeaking noise. Something has to be done, because I only have a little over 13K miles on my car. I have heard and read many complaints about this problem, but Honda refuses to do anything about. Something needs to be done, because we as the consumer should be paying for anything that is out of our control. I feel Honda should order a national recall on the Honda Accord to rectify this problem.

I own a 2008 Honda Accord exl, the rear brake pads are already worn out and I am not even at 20K. I have brought it to a Honda dealer who says that I am not the first person to report this problem. I find that this is completely unacceptable especially for the kind of car I bought, a Honda, which is supposed to be a trustworthy, reliable car and owner's should not be forced with replacing brake pads every 20K. I would think with so many unhappy owners Honda would do good by them and make this right. At least have the brake pads available to purchase instead of paying 200$ bucks vs only being able to have Honda replace them! not to mention this happens right before a 20K recommended service which costs $120 and that being right after I just spent $180 on the 15K service.. absolutely ridiculous and I will definitely think about purchasing any more Honda's down the road, if this is the way they are treating their customers who have been loyal and only expect the best from them!!

Purchased car and drove off the Honda lot as new car on 4.3.2008. Grinding sound at rear of car noticed at 17500 miles on or about 1.01.2009. Took the car into Honda, they had to replace work rear brake pads at a cost of $300. I complained and said it was too soon to replace them, Honda said it was wear and tear and I had to pay. I researched this site and found 5 similar complaints. I am calling Honda at 18009995901 to lodge a complaint and I urge you to do the same.

I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord exl automatic V6 in September 2007. On Nov 14, 2008 the dealership informs me that the rear brakes are worn down to the rotors and need to be replaced at 29-30,000 miles. Never have I replaced breaks this soon on a new vehicle. The mechanic informed me that several people with this same vehicle have experienced similar problems, and have replaced theirs with less miles. I am also informed that this is wear and tear which is not covered under warranty. After researching it on the web, there are several others with the same issue. The brake pads placed on these vehicle need to be investigated further.
