Accord V4

The car was purchased in April 2008; the brakes were first replaced in April 2010. We were reimbursed less than half of the cost of this repair months later by Honda. Apparently there was in fact an issue with the original brakes. Last week we had tires put on and were told at that time that the sensors are touching. I called the local Honda dealer this week and the service person told me that this is perfectly normal. Well we do not feel that this is "normal" this is the first Honda that we have purchased and we are not happy with this brake problem. My husband & I feel that there is a defect in the brakes; we should not have another out of pocket expense for brakes. In fact we are less than satisfied with the car and the response we have received from our local dealer.

In addition to the brake problem we have had the driver's side visor & console cover replaced all under warranty;but again the visor does not go completely up and the console cover is ripped. Yes I addressed it with the dealer and again it is normal wear and tear. This is the first Honda that we have purchased to drive ourselves; prior to this we have only purchased Toyotas. We are extremely unhappy with the fact that Honda does not stand behind their products in the same manner Toyota does. And yes we have maintained the car; although rarely do we use the Honda service department.

I have had enough of this piece of SH** car!! The brakes on the my car have never stopped screeching since I replaced the prematurely worn rear pads 2 years ago!! If that's not the worst, this car has a long list of issues wrong w/ it also. The stupid Honda corporation are a bunch of a*** too!! They don't give a crap about the consumers! I still don't understand fanboys....what the hell do they get paid by Honda to brag about their cars?? Their cars are junk! period! I have even gone throught BBB Autoline to file for the lemon law. Honda still refuses to recall these cars!

Update from Oct 12, 2012: I'm so glad those Honda mofos are getting what they deserve.....have fun with all them recalls XD.

A car is only as good as the manufacturer!! XD

What kinda idiots they got making these POS cars?? Front and REAR? brakes deteriorating at 10K miles??

Yup!!...normal wear and tear!!

Went in for an oil change and tire rotation, asked my mechanic to check the tires because there was such a terrible squealing sound coming from the rear tires. He told me I needed to replace the rear brake pads because of specific defect with this model of Honda Accord. I never would have guessed it to be the rear brakes because the car only had 37,000 miles on it. I had driven around for 3 months with the squealing sound! Would have had it checked out immediately if I thought it could have been the brakes. I guess it is a good thing they didn't go out completely while I was actually driving the car. This is my fourth Honda and I am extremely disappointed to have had such a problem. It was a major inconvenience for me to get it fixed. And I ended up spending $220 that day instead of the $60-$70 I had budgeted for. Thanks a lot Honda!

Much of the 27k miles are highway. Brake problems for these conditions are unnacceptable. Honda recommends replacing these pads with an updated pad which implies they have an issue. Honda should remedy this issue with any affected cars sold and cars to be sold.

The car started squeaking. I took in, and they failed to tell me that it was the back brakes... Finally one of the techs rode with me and said that he mentioned to the service provider that the back brakes needed to be replaced. They said something about a rebate for 150, but they would charge 250.00. That is pretty crazy.

I don't know what they are useing to make the breaks out of now but, i do know the breaks not no good. The first time i took my car in to be look at i had 3,238 miles on it. ( no lie ) nothing was done, gave me the run around, went back about 15,000, the same. at 20,565 gave me the run for the last time i told the supervi. she need to fix my breaks at Honda expes. we went back and forder about a week or two, to tell me that i had to pay half to get them fix.$68.50 i did. After taking car in for servicing, still under warranty, I was informed it needed rear brake pads replaced. The cost would be $250 but Honda would reimburse me for $150. That Honda knows this is a repeated problem but it considered a wearable item therefor not covered under warranty. My question is every 22,000 miles I'm going to be out $250....I think it is time to trade for another line a vehicles. This is my first accord and will be my last! So much for a good reputation.

I purchased a new Honda Accord in August, 2008. Within one month, with less than 100 miles on the car , I noticed the brakes squeaking loudly. I brought it to the dealer and the lies and bs began. First I was told that this was normal break in noise, though I never heard this with any other car I have owned in 30 years. Then I was told they could not hear the noise. On a third trip to the dealer they claimed to have fixed the problem, a lie as the brakes began to squeal before I left the parking lot. I was also told since it did not affect the operation of the car , what was the problem with a squeaky noise ! I have been a long time customer of Honda, our family currently owns 3 Hondas and we have never been treated so poorly by a dealership. I only recently became aware that this was a widespread problem, and that the dealer was aware of this and simply lying and covering up the problem. Honda needs to take responsibility for these defective brakes, and issue a recall, and pay for repairs, not make customers pay for repairs when cars are under warranty. Last car I will buy from Honda since a warranty means nothing.

I thought Honda Accord was a reliable and a great purchase at the time when I purchased it two years ago, but my accord is turning out to be a big disappointment. It doesn't even have 20,000 miles on it yet and I've already gone to the dealer three times because I felt like my brakes sounded weird, but the dealer always sent me home. Now i realize it wasn't me that was sensitive to sound, but bad HONDA BREAKS. The dealer knows the Accords have this problem, but didn't want admit it. Now, I can't drive anywhere, the screeching sound is too embarassing. It sounds like an old car, but in fact its only 2 years old with less than 20,000 miles. Honda Accord is a big disappointment.

Same deal as all the other 2008 Accords. My back brake pads wore out completely by 22,000mile of highway driving. After looking at this site, I contacted Honda America and they told me that they would pay $150 of the $235 of repairs. When I got to the dealership the service manager told me that they would pick up 100% of the tab because it was determined that the breaks had a "problem with the pin" which caused the breaks to drag. Overall, i wish this had not happened, but I am glad that Honda took responsibility and paid for everything. We will see what happens in another 20,000 miles!

After about six months of ownership, my Accord's brakes started to make a high-pitched sound (I thought it was the brake indicators; to let me know the pads were low, but after six months and about 5,800 miles????). I brought it to a Honda dealer and they could not replicate the sound that I had described and mentioned that the vehicle was operating normally... basically, there was nothing wrong with the car. Yeah, so I guess it's normal when I am stopping at a light and my new car is making a noise while slowing to a stop like the 1988 car in the other lane... BS! I researched and found this site and was shocked to see all of the complaints on the new and improved Accords! I wonder when "they" will wake up and fix "their" mistake. My Honda still makes that noise from time to time, but it must be in my head because "they" say it's working within specifications... Will not buy another Honda if this is how consumers are treated.

I purchaced my accord on April 30th, and I was back at Checkered Flag Honda the very next day with this problem, They said they replaced the back rotors and still my car squeals.. I was back in 3 months later, and Dan from the blue team told me that there was going to be a recall for this problem , Needless to say...it is now Febuary 13th 2010 and I still have had to deal with this problem ! Same problem with brakes as others mentioned. Started at around 3000 miles . Haven't gone to dealership yet but squeaking noise is definitely annoying especially with the new car. 2008 Honda Accord, rear brakes went bad @ 24,300 miles. I never had a new car that the breaks went bad so quick. I think the car should be recalled for this problem. This is a safety problem and should be fixed by Honda. My mother and father-in-law bought their Honda Accord a week after ours and it only has 10,000 miles on it and the rear breaks are starting to squeak.

Accord LX 3.2L

I leased the car in may 08 for my wife. After a few days she told me that the car has an alarm

when she backs up. I paid no mind to it and she never mentioned it again. In Dec.09, she told me about it again and asked me if I would test it out and see if I thought it was a warning signal, because it seemed to be getting louder. I did,and I knew something was wrong. The car made a high pitched sound when in reverse. I brought it in to the dealer who told me that it sounded like the rear brakes. He said it would cost $48.00 for the diagnostics's and $279.00 for the brake job. I asked him if he was out of his mind, the car is new ,21000,miles and if it needed a brake job the parts had to be faulty. He said everyone drives differently and the pads wear faster for some drivers. I told him this was her 5th accord and it never happened before and she didn't change her style of driving for this car. He insisted that this was quite normal , happens all the time. He advised me to do the work cause it would only get worse. I told him what I thought of his policy, told him to get my car, I didn't care if the piece of sh.. crap blew up, I would tell my wife that she was right ,it was a backup alarm and every thing was honkeydory. When I got home I was pissed, so I called the service manager and told him the whole story bitching a lot louder. He waived the$48.00 fee and asked, if it was the pads would I agree to replace them . I said no, I could get it done for $110.00 at a local station. He was OK with that, so I brought the car back. A few hours later he called me and confirmed that it was the brake pads and as a big favor to me he would do the job for $199.00. I told him to ram it and went to get my car. This time I took my friend who just had a complete brake job on his 2009 accord with 17,000 miles on it. His was fully covered. When we went in , we tag-teamed the bastard letting him know that we knew what was going on with the crappy pads I also added that in a day or two I was coming in to lease another accord for my niece who needed me to co-sign the loan. With that, he went back to see the boss, returned in about two seconds and told me ,they would do me another favor and fix the brakes , no charge. When I go in with my niece I will demand in writing that if anything goes wrong with the brakes during the length of the lease they will fix them NO CHARGE.

Horrible sounds from the brakes after having the tires rotated! But after reading the rest of the comments I realize that may just be a coincidence. I can't believe Honda would be aware of this and not do anything yet to fix it. This car's been out for two years now.

I had a 2005 Accord sedan that was great. No complaints. What the heck happened, Honda?? Somebody asleep at the wheel?
