This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
This issue has occured for the 3 time since I have owned this car which I bought new in 2008. Honda repaired the issue when the car was under warranty but his issue should not be happening again. I contacted Honda and was told there is an updated solution for the on going problem but when I spoke to a specialist they denied they had any idea this was a on going problems for Hondas. I think there should be some one who should investigate Honda and issue a recall otherwise this is just a way for Honda dealers to keep getting money out of the car owners. I will be getting my car repaired which they will still will not take full responsibility for this issue. This may not be a safety issue like the air bags but it is a issue where the customer is at the mercy of Honda.

I purchased this car used certified from a dealership. I thought it was kind of strange the salesman would bring the car to me every time I went to drive it and take it after purchase. Figured it out just days after when it would make a noise on a cold start once in a while. Took it back and they couldn't hear it so I had to leave it a couple days and they still didn't hear it. As it continued to make the noise more often I took back a couple more times until they finally said it was the vtc actuator and they contacted Honda who agreed to replace at their expense. Was ok for a couple years then started with the same noise again. I was told they couldn't replace it again because it won't last. The noise is real bad now with almost every start and the engine is getting loud. I'm ready to ask dealership again, but now I'm worried since my extended warranty has run out they may not do anything for free even though I didn't use my warranty for this issue. Last December when I asked them I was told Honda had not come up with a solution yet.
This is absolutely ridiculous! Honda needs to take responsibility and correct this issue!

Has been under a Recall to have fixed but everytime you call to bring car in I am told they don't have the part. This has been going on since Jan of 2015. I have literally called every month to have Recall for part to be replaced and they still do not have the part.

On cold startup (more than 5 hours of sitting) there is a loud metallic grinding sound. It sounds like metal shards are in the engine.
Probably related to TSB #09-010

Known issues that are not covered by the company is the first way to lose customers & tell everyone about them. Making them jump through hoops with checking their oil every thousand miles is also ridiculous. People don't have time to deal with that. Seriously, shape up I don't feel like trading my car in and ranting how Honda sucks the rest of my life to everyone I know.

I have taken my car to same Honda Dealer for almost ten years now! NEVER has the dealer pointed out that I have a problem even though many times my oil was too low! First I noticed engine rattles at cold start-up second was that engine light was on and off! I was thinking that some cover got loose and made such a noise! I was wrong.
