This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
I have seen many reports of the 2009 remote lock not working on the Accord. Funny, when I bought the car the dealership casually mentioned that this defect "wasn't covered," which I thought was kind of strange at the time. Knew within two weeks that there was a problem. Have replaced batteries over and over - this is a manufacture's defect and Honda knows it. Also, have had a vibration in the dash since the day we bought it - of course the technicians could never find it while under warranty. This was my third Honda but definitely my last, the quality of Honda and their integrity has sunk over the years and is now no better than General Motors. I will keep this car a few more years, but I will never buy another Honda again in my lifetime.

My car alarm system has never worked properly and can only be operated in very close proximity to my vehicle. Silly me for standing 25 feet from my car and thinking I set the alarm and locked the car because someone broke into it and stole about $500 worth of goods. I hate this car, I will NEVER buy a honda again. So many problems

In cold weather, the electrical system stops working normally. Some interior lights won't work, the car stops recognizing the keyfob and even if I insert the key to open the door, the alarm activates. The car will still run once the alarm stops but then sometimes the VSA light comes on too. Finally, after parking and turning off the car, the alarm goes off again when I open to door to get out. The dealership couldn't recreate the problem because they warmed it up in their garage before trying and then the car works fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have removed the fuse for the horn so the alarm is silent. Unfortunately, this also disables the brake lights.

Between the premature need to replace brakes (less than 20000 miles), the fact that the rear deck rattles (repaired once), and now the key problem (keyless entry-my "lock" button doesn't work), this car has been a SIGNIFICANT disappointment.

The remote control only works when it wants not when i needed. piece of crap

Key fobs don't work consistently. I keep pressing any button more than 10 times before I get a response some of the time.

I just thought the key fob from Honda was just a piece of crap. I thought maybe it was a battery issue in the fob even though it wasn't a year old until I read that section in my owners manual. After reading another posters solution, I will be calling the dealership to get it reprogrammed.
I bought this car after giving my 2002 Pontiac Bonneville (she had her problems too) to my son. There are days I miss her terribly.
Other issue with my Honda - noisy brakes - posted under brakes.

First keyless remote remote required additional pressing to get the car to unlock. Switched batteries and still same problem. Now switched keys and I am having the same problem with the spare key.
Pissed off and going to the dealer to rant and rave about this BS as I am still not very happy about the inferior back brake pads that wore out prematurely and front rotors that warped very early on.

I found the solution to my problem, I had to find a dealership that knew about the problem. I called around and found Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron Ohio. They had me come in the next day and replace the fob and receiving unit in the car and the fobs work like new. The other Honda dealership I called Classic Honda in Streetsboro Ohio told me that the battery needed to be replace. I told them I already replaced the battery. They said there was nothing else they could do. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FIND A GOOD DEALERSHIP.

One of the keys has a very weak remote. Sometimes it won't open the car even if you're standing next to it. Turns out there's a service bulletin on it -- you have to bring in all the keys, and they reprogram them.

from the beginning my car key clicker was not working properly . you would have to keep tryng it for like 20 times before the doors would open or lock . we took it to the dealership and they said they were having problems. they turned the battery in the clicker, that worked for about a month know I'm having trouble with it again. When i was taking about with some friend. the same thing happened to a friend and she ended up having her doors pulled apart and replacing some mechanism in the lock system, that should not happen in a new car!!!! maybe a 12 year old car but not a band new HONDA !!
anyone else experience this problem ?

remote operation is weak ... works fine in a closed garage where there's lots of reflection off the walls, but out in the open it's real work to operate the door locks. The cure that Honda service guy recommends is to open the key fob, use great care with a good quality jewellers screw driver, clean the battery surfaces.
This is apparently a well known problem since Honda decided to put a thin layer of dielectric grease on the batteries ...
Be careful, if you damage the screw you may not be able to get the key back together - if in doubt, give it to the service guy to do the next time you're in for an oil change.

I again took the car to the dealership with the new key fob. I told them that in very cold weather, the car does not recognize even the new key fob and if I unlock the door with the key, the immobilization reacts and the car does not start. They still have no idea what to do and they are keeping the car until they can duplicate the problem. Problem being, they should have started it the next day after I left it because the weather was very cold and no one did anything. Today, Monday, it hasn't happened because the temperature is warmer. The problem is that in the morning when I have to leave for work and it is cold outside, the car does nothing. Later in the day when the temperature rises, the car starts as if nothing is wrong. HELP...I hate being treated as if I am crazy!!!!

The dealership acted as if this has never happened before.

I wonder any lawyer wants to initiate a class case for the problem or there is no chance?
