The brakes squeak like crazy!! I couldn't tell if the pads are low or "if there's a rock or dirt stuck in there" - as the mechanic suggested. They ended up changing my brake pads and grinding down the rotors. The brakes still squeak.

The brake is always squeaking. Dealer, independent mechanics couldn't fix the problem yet.

I just bought my car a year ago. I only put 10K miles on it and the rotors and break pads need to be replaced. I read online that 2008 & 2009 Honda accords have break problems in general because of the manufactures mistake on making them smaller for the car. I am a full time student and a full time worker & paying 600 dollars on a car that I just bought and am currently making payments towards is a huge pain in the ass. It's very frustrating that it does not cover under warranty and that this is not the first incident where this has happened. It's a huge financial burden for me.

I I purchased my Honda Accord new in 2009 and noticed that the brakes squeaking when I was test driving my now current car. During that time, I asked the salesperson why does the brakes squeaks. I was told that “the car has been sitting on the dealer lot for a while. The squeaking will stop soon once the car is driven more.†Okay, I thought. However, the brakes never stop squeaking from day one. I now have 23000 miles on my car and over the past two years I’ve took my car to the Honda dealership for brakes services and was told that they can’t find anything wrong with the brakes. However, now here it is October 2012 the Honda dealership tells me that I need new rear brakes pads. I am extremely upset with Honda and the dealership due to they knew when I purchased my 2009 Honda Accord that the rear brakes were defected and had issues. I was deceived. I'm disappointed with Honda and their services.. It’s clear that Honda do not valued their customers. If they did, Honda will fix the rear brakes problem for free and reimburse those who paid out of pocket to have their rear brakes fixed. I believe this is a safety issue. Honda should be held accountable and do the right thing. They should fix the rear brakes problem for free. Bottle line, I have purchased two cars from Honda within the past 9 years and was considering buying a new 2013 CRV when it becomes available. However, after seeing firsthand how Honda treats their customers, it’s highly unlikely that I will purchase or recommend buying any further cars from Honda. You have just lost a once loyal customer .

their should have been a recall and my car checked before someone gets hurt. i'm going tomorrow and see what the dealer is going to do about my problem. will let people know what they tell me about this. hope i get good results from my dealer

Brakes have squeaked since day one, the dealer assured me it was since the car was new and needed to be 'broken in." Well, almost 4 years and 4 brake replacements later the brakes still squeak. Thanks Honda, I appreciate the wear and tear on my pockets.

My girlfriend bought this 2009 accord used. it had gone thru Honda's certification (what ever that means). Shortly after her purchase the front brakes started squeaking. I first thought maybe a rock got lodged in the brake and would work itself out. But the brakes continued to get worse. Finally I took the car in for her to be serviced. At first I was told it was a moisture problem. (There hasn't been any moisture here this winter til a couple of days ago). Then I was told it may be a rust build up (the car is used in the city so it doesn't sit long enough to build up rust or if rust develops that fast the brakes use a really poor metal). Finally I was shown a Honda service report that detailed a replacement of the brakes for a newer material that presumably wont squeak. I asked is this not a recall item if there is a known problem? Answer... No because its not a safety issue, its an annoyance issue... Well Honda, seeing and hearing your cars squeaking all about this country is GREAT advertising!!! How you treat your "valued" customers with this issue (especially during these economic times) is down right pitiful!!! Fix the problem for free!!! You know who most of the owners are. So us you care about your reputation or find the Accord becoming a memory cause I will never recommend your car or any other Honda product again!!!

Honda has a known defect in the brake pads and has only agreed because of a lawsuit to provide payment for the repair. They are only providing $150 and it will cost me over $200 to have it fixed. I'm upset that the car is still under warranty, and the product should last longer than time I've owned the car and they won't cover the full repair cost. This Honda isn't nearly as nice as the older model I had ('05). Wish I'd gone with something different.

I just purchased my Honda in October. It only had 46000 miles when the brakes begin to squeak. I took it back and they turned the rotors, but the brakes are still squeaking. So far the the customer service has been great. I have not had to come out of my pocket for anything, but I'm not sure why the squeaking is still there.

Squeeking and squeling sounds come from front and back. Honda must have recall and fix this properly.

Seriously, the rear breaks started squealing at 3000 miles. Took it to the dealer twice (frontier honda in longmont). I was given the service bulletin enlightening me on "break dust."
The car has been a significant dissapointment.

I have owned and operated many Honda vehicles and was happy with Honda quality. So I ended up purchasing another one ('09 Accord LX) and was disappointed in year 2 of my purchase. The brakes started to squeak. Since I was within the warranty period, I went to the dealer, they said that brakes are considered wear and tear and are not covered in the warranty.
I had to take it to my mechanic, he said the brakes had worn out, pads and the rotor. The repairs cost me over $280. For a 2 year-old vehicle in warranty period!
NOT A Happy Camper. I was asking around among friends, someone suggested to check on the internet. I found http://www.accordsettlement.com/. I heard that this person fought for 4 months before he received the settlement money. Even so, he only got paid for brake pads!
I am not sure this is all HONDA could do!

Brought in my accord several times for squealing brakes. They said they didn't have a fix. It constantly sounds like I need new brake pads, but the thickness is fine.

I have only had my 2009 Honda Accord for 8 months and already had to replace back brakes. This is crap and I think I am owed a reimbursement. I paid $247.00 to have them fixed and I have an extended warranty. I want my money back!
- Kimberly G., Baytown, TX, US
I don't even really know when it started or what the mileage was. Since this is still a fairly new car, it shouldn't be happening. I didn't realize that I am not the only one until I started looking on here at all of the complaints about brakes. Now I am really unhappy with this car - won't buy a Honda again. Not impressed at all.

I noticed that my beautiful Honda Accord squeaks like I am dragging a metal building behind me. It may last for a few minutes or an hour and then stop. I took it to Honda and the technician told me that it was the "brake indicator" and he said that these new brakes go out at around 25-30K miles. I said, "sounds to me like Honda has a problem". I asked him if my car was front wheel drive with only 28K miles why would my back brakes go out first and he said, "that is how car's are designed now ma'am". Hummmm......really, jackass....that is the best you got?!? Honda needs to issue a recall on these cars in order to save customers in the end.

I had my Accord in the dealer 15 times before they would actually fix my brakes.. They kept telling me that "oh miss they are supposed to sound like that, you don't know what you are talking about there is nothing wrong with your brakes" !!! Finally I got a hold of a bulletin that went out only to Honda, that said the brakes were bad on the 09 and 10 Accords and if people came in with a problem they had to fix it, then finally a lawsuit came out and now they are kissing my a** !!

Lamacchia Honda of Syracuse would not eat the cost for fixing this brand new cars breaks. The breaks on a Honda should not go at 20,000 miles I told the service manger, I have a Chevy trunk with 56,000 miles still on the original breaks, his comment was that it was Honda's problem and he could not reimburse me.I will never buy a foreign car again!!!

At 31000 miles the brakes started to squeal. On warm days the problem is worse. I replaced the front pads. This did not help. Now I will replace the rear pads and rotors. The rear pads wore out way to quickly!
