First sign of problem was when car started shaking when braking, which started about 6 months ago at about 20,000 miles; my car was less than two years old then. Later at 23,000miles my rear brakes started making noise. Took it to Honda dealer yesterday and diagnosis was warped front rotors due to overheating. My rear brake was hitting the sensor and down to the metal and needs to be replaced. This is a front-wheel drive and your front brake should go first before your back brake. They also replaced bearings that was on the warranty that was also making a noise.

At 23,000 miles all these should not be happening! To top it off, the service representative did not disclose of any Honda problems until I pried him and I told him this is not normal. I only drive city and highway and no mountain driving for my rotors to warp or overheat! I have been driving for 37 years and had a few cars through these years but never had a problem like this on a two year old car. He then informed me of a settlement on a class action lawsuit. I submitted my claim today but my concern is my car is not even listed on the settlement. Not sure if my claim will be honored.

The issue is as it is with Honda and its continual braking problems. At 18k mi while working for Honda in Jax FL I brought my leased 2010 Accord EXL for it's normal oil, tire rotation. They did the oil but told me the rotors were warped and that they needed to be resurfaced for $280. Obviously, I resisted and had to make a small stink about it only having 18k mi. They did however fix it as a "good will" statement which I agreed. Now at 29k miles, the same problem. Car is not even two yrs old and Honda is saying NO. I am going to arbitration on 8/1/12 with the BBB & Honda to see if they will do it having the BBB side with the consumer. With all the lawsuits, recalls and unhappy yet loyal Honda customers, you think taking care of it under warranty would be better PR.

Driving 65mph @2000 rpm. Car started slowing rapidly. I pressed on the accelerator pedal and the engine RPM increased to over 3000 RPM but the car continued to slow down as if I were holding the brake pedal down. At about 45MPH the car began accelerating normally. This happened three more times. The last time there was a severe vibration in the steering wheel and the brakes made noise when I pulled over to stop. I turned the engine off for a minute or so and restarted and drove on without anymore trouble. I called the dealer I bought the car from and they had not heard of a similar problem and that if I would bring it in they'd check it out. I don't think the problem can be duplicated without taking the car out and driving a long distance at highway speeds.

I also called Honda America and they had no answer.

Can I be the only person who has had this problem?

Have a leased Accord with only 13K miles that was in an accident. The repairs were made, none involving, or having anything to do with, the braking system. The body repairs took about 2 weeks to complete, and when I got the car back, I noticed the brakes vibrated when applied. The body shop took the car to the dealer, who said the vibration was due to the car sitting for two weeks while in the body shop - it had rust on the rotors - what they called "brake pad signature" from sitting! They said the front rotors needed to be resurfaced, and the rear also seemed to be making noise as well, and should be done. They would do all four for a discounted $250 due to a special coupon sale, or would do one axle for $150! They said nothing else wrong with the rotors or brake pads.

I can't believe a car sitting for two weeks (actually not even sitting since it was being worked on) suddenly warrants all four rotors to need resurfacing! How many people go on vacation, or otherwise idle their cars for short periods - and they need rotor resurfacing? Is this crazy or what? BTW, this doesn't qualify for the class action suit apparently......not sure why. But from talks with friends who own Hondas, as well as, my daughter's Civic, this is business as usual. I'll be taking mine elsewhere as soon as the lease is up!

29,000 miles and the rotors were warped badly... seriously? Come on, Honda!

I started feeling the problem (pedal pulsation, etc.) at about 15,000 miles. The dealer was reluctant to perform the repairs under warranty, but after I annoyed them enough, they resurfaced the rotors for free.

They told me the car didn't have a defect from the manufacturer, and that the problem was my driving habits. I have driven 95% freeway miles, and have never once had to slam on my brakes at a high speed. I think those are pretty good driving habits.

The OEM brake rotors on these cars are junk. Honda needs to admit that this is an issue and offer a solution. For gosh sakes, If I wanted a piece of junk, I would have bought a Chevy or Chrysler for thousands less.

Does anyone know if Brembo (or another reputable company) makes aftermarket drilled rotors for this car? I want to get the unsafe OEM brakes off of this car ASAP.

I knew I should have gone with a Camry...
