The 2010 Accord had a bad shaking when the brakes were applied at 65mph or higher. The steering wheel shakes. the car shakes. very scary. Took it to a repair shop and they said it needed new rear rotors and new rear brakes. Thought that was very odd as fronts usually wear out first. Now at 60,000 miles the car suddenly has the very same problem again! this time I am taking it to the originating Honda dealer to see if they come up with the same "cure". I feel this situation is dangerous as well as an unexpected expense. I may trade the car off and end the relationship with Honda. We have multiple Honda cars.

How does a car with $27,000 have worn brake pads? These things should easily last 70,000 miles.

We bought a brand new accord in 2010 , the car is barely driven in 2 years put less than 13,500 miles and breaks are grinding. Will cost around 450.00 to replace all pads and rotors . This is a travesty.at the risk of sounding too dramatic ....

Only the right rear inside pad is bad, all the other pads have about 75% left.

Approximately one year ago, spring 2011, after Oil Change Service at Honda Dealer, the Service person told me that the rear brakes had excessive wear. She acknowledged that there had been a problem with 2008 and 09 rear brakes, but felt the problem had been remedied by Honda. Then yesterday, at 37,183 miles, I am told that brake mesaurement shows less than 1mm.

I have a beautifull Honda Accord coupe, blue Belize, 2010 model. I am at the dealer now, fuming over the fact that I took the car for a regular inspection and they told me that I need to change the rear breaks AT 22,000 miles. I was quite unpleasantly surprised that I need to do that since I don't consider my self a hard breaker. I talked to the mechanic ad I was told that I'm actually lucky for lasting that long. The approximate cost for the breaks is $260.00. I search the Internet and apparently there are a lot of complains about this. Did anyone had this covered under they're warranty? Is there anything WE the people can do, besides opening out wallets every 20k miles? Feedback highly appreciated!!!

I have never owned a new car where the front brakes outlast the rear brakes. My rear brakes on the Accord need replacing with less than 20,000 miles on them, while the front pads have twice as much life left on them. Honda needs to do something about this ASAP. I was not expecting to pay $250- on rear brakes already, especially since the front brakes are fine! Has anyone had this issue?

At 23,000 miles my rear brakes starting screeching. Had to replace rear brake pads and rotors. Sincerely pissed. I bought a Honda because of the obvious misconception that they are a reliable car company. I am curently compiling all of the complaints I can find on the internet for the 2010 Honda Accords not included in the class action settlement as well as my old brake pads to send to Honda President Takanobu Ito.
Update from Oct 3, 2012: Called Honda and they reimbursed me for the pads only. They were extremely effecient and cooperative

I purchased my Accord in oct of 2010 and recently went in to have my car serviced, oil changed and things, (approx 22000 miles). They told me that my front brakes were like new and that my rear ones were down to 30% and that i needed to get them replaced. I was told that my warranty wouldn't cover the cost to replace them.
This is my first honda and only the second car ive owned. The prior was a ford taurus, i had the car for 6 years but i think i only had to have the brakes done once or twice. I have read a lot of forums that say this has been an ongoing problem with accords 2008-2009 and some 2010; that they are reimbursing some of the cost for some vehicles. I'm a college student so i don't really have that much expendable income, and even though its only about $150 to fix, its sort of difficult to pay for it then fight to get reimbursed when your on a budget. Not sure why they dont just fix the problem initially.

I've never experienced complete brake pad wear on any new vehicle @ 23,000mi. That its the rear brakes is even more unheard of. I would not be surprised to find this is traceable to all the Accords these pads were installed on.

Not my first Honda product, but may be the last. Never, EVER had to replace rear brakes at 28750 miles. My history tells me I am an easy driver, not hard on any system, to me it seems to be a manufacturer issue. Step up to the plate Honda and admit mistake

4 months after buying a brand new 2010 Honda accord my breaks started squealing. Took it in to the dealership and they said my breaks were dirty. They cleaned them and the noise stopped for approximately a month. Made another appointment and went in again with the same complaint AND again was told my breaks were dirty. The guy that was helping me said he has seen this issue in all the 2010 Honda Accords and that is why “he traded his own Honda Accord inâ€!! He also told me that I could fix the problem MYSELF by using a high power hose and spraying my wheel well to clean the "dust" off my breaks. Wow, what a pain in the ass! Really, I didn’t buy a BRAND NEW Honda Accord to get off work and stop by a car wash to spray my breaks off so I didn’t have to hear them squeal!! Come on Honda, Own Up!! So I went back in July, Aug, Oct and Nov with the same complaint. Finally in November they told me I needed new REAR brakes. After MONTHS of the Honda Dealership telling me it was just dust I found it hard to trust them so I got a second opinion from a trusted source and it turned out I did need new rear brakes sadly with just over 30k MOSTLY highway miles. So not only have I been inconvenienced by the squealing of breaks every few weeks now I have to pay for new breaks on my fairly new Honda Accord! WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT HONDA! Honda had me as a lifetime customer up until now! My last Honda I had for over 12 years and 150k miles and I loved it, what happened Honda??

What is Honda thinking having one of the best selling vehicles requiring brakes at less than 15,000 miles!! Ford isn't even going to accept that so quite frankly next repalcement will be the Fusion as Honda seems to think Accord owners are just going to throw money aware and accept premature brake replacements!

One would expect that a car company that tries to pride themselves on durability of their product would do a better job at handling an issue like this. At 20,000 miles, all 4 brake pads were at 1mm thickness. My wife drives this car on the highway everyday, not city driving. I have a ford F250 that hasn't needed brake pads and it has 105,000 miles. Best part was the gal at the service department tried to make a joke about it and said we were lucky we got that many miles. Last time I buy a Honda!!!

I bought this car in February 2010 and 8 months later the rear brakes had to be replaced i was very angry. Five months after i bought it the inside of the carpet is torn. they have fixed but the problems persist. I have had this car for a year and halft and it is making an awful noise. I took it the mechanic and he told me that the Rear Hub Cilynder needs to be replaced the cost is $ 850.00. I just cannot believe that a brand new car is giving all theser problems. The tires are already worn out, and i took it to tire place they told me the tires were a 2009 model. the key sometimes does not open the door on its own i have to insert the key to open the door. I am very frustrated with this car. I took it back to the dealer many times and ask them to get another car but they refused. I did not know there was recall on these type of car. They knew but I did not know. I am very angry about it, they knew about the problem and they still sold it to me like that.

The Honda dealership told me my rear brakes were down to a 2 and my front brakes are at a 9 and that my rear brakes needed to be replaced. They gave me a quote and left it at that. When I got home and told the hubby I found out that this should not be happening. After doing my homework I found out that Honda knows of this early wear on back brakes and has a class action lawsuit settled. Unfortunately my car falls beyond the models in the settlement. What really pisses me off is that I have been dealing with this dealership for a long time and they failed to mention any issues. This is the 2nd time I've been treated less than ethically with this dealership. I may have to organize an "occupy Honda" if they don't come up with an acceptable price to correct the brake problem for me.

The problem is the same that several owners had complained about, premature wear brakes, both front and rear.
Also I want to know if possible, at this date is any recall available? or what will happen?

I purchased a Honda Accord so that I could have a reliable car for years to come. Now I find out, after a year owning it, I'm going to be replacing the brake pads every 20-30 thousand miles which is probably 2 or 3 times more than any other car. This is a big disappointment for me and Honda really needs to get their act together and fix this since they clearly seem to know about it. The 2008 Honda Accord had the same problem accompanied by a class action lawsuit: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/100408-Honda-Settles-Lawsuit-over-Accord-Brakes/.

VIN # not included in class action lawsuit, a 2010, and needed only rear brakes at 21000 miles!!
- Richard R., Anaheim, CA, US
I bought this car new June 2010. I now have 20,300 miles and I was told at the last oil change that I would need new brakes in another 10-15000 miles. I thought NEW brakes this is a NEW car. BUT I do not think the brakes will last that long. I will be taking it in at the end of July. Right now when I go in reverse my brakes make a rather strange noise. I really like my Accord but this is really concerning me. I am not sure how much its going to cost or what it involves. As every one knows car repairs are not cheap!
Update from Jul 18, 2012: I took my car to the dealership today, July 18, 2012, and was told that it was the rear break pads and that this was normal wear and tear. I disputed that and said this is not normal for a car with a little over 20,000 miles and that it was premature brake wear and that there was a class action suit against Honda (I had a copy of it with me). At this point he did say he was aware of this and gave me a form to fill out to submit a claim (I guess he was waiting to see if I knew about this suit against Honda). I think the dealership should have eaten the cost just for good customer relationship. I asked about what kind of brake pads where going to be replaced and he said they would be upgraded pads, we'll see on that. I am going to fill out my form and send it in to the proper channels but I do not have much hope in getting reimbursed I think I'm too late. My cost is $213.38 (I did have a $25 discount on brakes coupon..good timing!). So the actual cost would have been $237.38. Honda HAD such a good reputation you would think because of the many complaints (and I'm sure there are a lot more) they would have a recall. I'm not sure how I feel about Honda anymore, time will tell. I wonder what future troubles I will have with my car. And I left Toyota for Honda....
