The car is having starter issues. Randomly will start and then won't. there are thousands of complaints about this on the internet. Same make and model, same issue. The system or starters are obviously defective and should be recalled. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time for us- at least a year or more.

Key-less access control unit is very unreliable. The push button start does not always engage. This makes starting the car a variable time event and not suitable for moving the car in an emergency situation. The problem was well known by Honda and presumably fixed in some 2013's. Honda service bulletin 13-038 told Honda service departments to replace the module as a warranty repair. They cut this off at VIN DL002124, but the problem continues. Streetsboro Ohio Honda tells me they can order the part but they want over $600 to repair this design flaw. I purchased the car in December of 2013 and was unaware of the issue for a long time. I thought the car was just hard to start. I mentioned it to a service man at bedford Honda at the time, but the car started up for him several times in a row so I just lived with it. It's now much worse.

I think this might be my 3rd complaint, I love Honda and have had Honda cars for years, but this has really tested my patience. For the last 4 years I have gone through 3 starters and 2 alternators, every time I contact Honda they tell me to drop the car off so they can test it, I pay them $130 so they can tell me what they already know. My problem is that starter issue is very common, and there is no long term fix for this issue. So the issue is back, I end up getting stranded in places for hours at a time, and sometimes even end up being late to work, due to my starter spinning away until I can get it to catch eventually. I took it to get appraised the other day, and it wouldn't start ofcourse, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle ofcourse, because no one wants to sell a lemon. At this point, I am either looking for Honda to buy my car off me, replace it, or come up with a permanent fix. If you go on youtube and type in Honda starter issue you will find plenty of videos, and I also have reciepts for all the trips my car took to the dealer. I am not going to install a 4th starter, that is that rediculouse, I refuse to go to a Honda dealership again for them to tell me what I already know.

Push button starter doesn't work nearly every day. Today July 9 2019 it wouldn't start 3 times. Everything freezes (steering, brake) but all lights light up. There are 1,000's of people that this is happening too... so far only when starting.

March 2019 drove car to gym without incident. Car wouldn't start an hour later. Aaa came and the tech's tools indicated battery had sufficient power. Tech tried multiple times to start car and got it to run. He advised me to take it to shop to get starter fixed. I drove it home instead and the car worked fine for a month. One morning it didn't start again. I tried to start it again two weeks later and it was fine. The next day it didn't. finally in July 2019 I called for a tow. Aaa came, jumped the car and advised me to drive directly to shop. At shop, determined it was just a dead battery. Replaced it today. At 120000 miles and in the span of 6 years, this is the third battery.

In early 2019, after my Honda dealer replaced my vehicle's water pump, I began experiencing problems with the push button start feature on my 2013 Honda Accord. Sometimes, my car starts right away. But more often, it takes several attempts before my car will start using the push button start feature. When repeated attempts are necessary to start my car, I hear a 'clicking' type noise when I press the start button, but my car does not turn over. After several attempts pushing the 'start' button, my car eventually starts (sometimes after a few seconds and a few attempts, sometimes after many attempts and two or three minutes). The problem occurs randomly, when the car is cold and warm. I never experienced this problem until Honda replaced the water pump on my car earlier this year. Based on other web posts, this sounds like a common problem with the push button start feature in 2013 Honda Accord. Once my car starts, it runs well. At this present time, I have no other mechanical problems other than the push button start feature. However, my car's failure to start is a safety issue in itself if a car fails to start in a situation where a quick get away is necessary (for example, flood, wild fire, or other natural or other disaster that may require that my car start without delay).

Starter failure described in Honda's tsb 16-002. Car exhibited a grinding noise upon trying to start. It would fail to start. This was an intermittent problem. Honda finally replaced the starter but was unwilling to warranty the known problem. A year later I am having the same problem.

Having problems with starting the car at times. It started when on a road trip. We were an hour out from home, had been driving for approximately 2.5 hours. We stopped at a rest area to use the facilities, came back to the car and it wouldn't start, it tried turning over but did not. We received a boost and it started right up. This happens intermittently with no warning. I have been stranded on several occasions. The car was checked out and I was told that the battery, alternator and starter were all fine. I actually drive with a jump starter in the car so that I won't be stranded. It is frustrating to not know what is wrong.

The car has a push button start. Sometimes the starter on the car does not work properly. At times, the car fails to start for 5 to 10 minutes and indicates that the starter system is not not working properly. It also indicates that the power is still on. Even after the ignition is off, the power is still on. On June 27, 2019, I had to pay $773.84 to replace the starter. This problem has been going on for months. The car only has 51,562 miles. The problem started before 50,000 miles but happened infrequently. Over the months, the problem grew worse. Now the car may not start in the evening but starts immediately the next morning. Getting stranded is a definite risk. The danville Honda dealership in Virginia said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing a lot of them. There are also discussions on-line about the problem - community talk. Therefore, Honda should replace the starters free of charge.

Push button start does not function properly. The car is unpredictable because it frequently fails to start when I push the engine button. Sometimes it starts on the first try, but I am frequently left trying to crank the car for 5 to 10 minutes. One day it would not start at all but started immediately the next morning. This problem has existed for months and the car has approximately 52,000 miles. I read on 'community talk' that other Honda owners are experiencing the same issue. On June 27, 2019, I had to pay over $773.84 to replace the starter. The dealership in danville, va. Said they keep the starters in stock because they are replacing all of them.

In 2018 my battery went dead and the lines were corroded. Battery was replaced. 3 months ago my car started to not start randomly. All lights on dash lit up, starter making noise as if it is starting, car doesn't start. This was about once a week but is now up to ten times a week. I looked it up online where others reported the same problem, said put it in neutral and it will start (true) and that Honda were having trouble with connection to batteries. Said step one was to change out sensor until part became available to fix this problem and to contact recall with VIN number to get vehicle fixed. I had a recall on a sensor a couple of years ago and took car in for same and had work done--not sure if this is same problem or not, but as I was able to look the exact problem up online with explanation and solution how to circumvent problem I expected to see a recall about this. Please advise what my next step is. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'

2013 Honda Accord caught on fire in our complex on Sunday 6/9/2019. The car was stationary for about 4 hours prior to the vehicle catching on fire. We were called by our neighbor that the car was on fire just before 4pm that day. When we got back, the fire department had just put out the fire. A police report was also filed. The car is also is part of an active recall for the battery sensor. We received 2 notices (August 2017/Feb 2019) and I was told each time that the car was not part of the recall. I have filed a claim with my insurance company along with opened up a case with Honda. I also filed a consumer complaint against Honda for a defective car. No one was in the car at the time it caught on fire but the vehicle is a total loss as it destroyed the entire front end of the car. My insurance company along with Honda will be sending out their fire inspectors to identify the origin of the fire to determine liability.
